So beaches are open down south but if you own a house in Penasco you can't even get into town, the day the mayor is waiting for is here, read on Facebook there's many new cases, maybe life knows how many.
Those that still don't believe at this point are more susceptible with their risky behavior. Not all bad. Just nature's way of thinning the herd. Rock on non- believers. I am aware of numerous people that have this nasty illness . And I don't wish this on anyone.

There is nothing physically or legally stopping Mexico from producing as much new money it chooses, as the gold standard was eliminated many years ago. However, there can be hangovers in terms of inflation ( and interest rates ) and currency devaluation, as well as future debt servicing.
Looks like it's official Mexico is putting up check points on the ports of entry to screen for essential travel to Mexico and if it's not essential you will be turned back as per the Gov of Sonora Claudia Pavlovich.

We’re in the same situation, its a big risk. We decided “F IT” and are leaving for PP in about half and hour, probably will hit Lukeville around 10am. Good luck. An update as far as the filter/screening they are using would be appreciated. Also, the article I read stated that the restrictions won’t go into place until sometime this weekend, no date specified, so it’s a coin toss.
The essential travel included labor, trade and medical needs. Wonder what I could bring to show that I need medical/health assistance? Would medicine fall into that category I wonder? Hint Hint.
One thing interesting about the border restriction announcement what all of the border crossing between Arizona and Sonora were mentioned except the crossing at Lukeville/Sonoyta. Probably just an over site, but I looked on US as well as Mexican news sites and all included the official announcement which did not mention the Lukeville/Sonoya crossing.

Yes it says they want to stop the flow of people for the 4th of July, But in reality they are preventing them from coming for the 4th of July. Most will be here starting today and not waiting for Saturday. This can change at anytime that is why I would not wait. If or when I get a link I will post it.

Any mention of when they will be restricting entry? I Got a report that they are not enforcing the closure until Saturday. Doesn’t mean it’s correct, just what I’ve heard. We need to get a member that’s a border patrol agent, that would help. Lol

All I know is that it's being discussed. Remember when it was announced they were closing Puerto Penasco in the evening and you only had until 12 pm the next day to get in. They never give much time.

I was in Rocky Point from January to the end of June, and I’ll be back every several weeks through the summer. The chaos and rudeness on this forum and most of the Facebook pages is in no way reflected by the kindness of the actual expats you meet in Rocky Point. Maybe there are some rough edges in places I don’t go, but then I don’t have any reason to go looking for bad behavior.

Some people in Sonyota have been putting a vehicle barrier to prevent travel south. When a lot of Americans start being turned back, Lukeville closes to save people a round trip. Travel north is apparently unobstructed.

From what I understand US. involvement is incidental. A large part of Sonoyta has no water. OOMAPAS says 'pay your bill'. the people say F**K you.

I'd assume they are not paying the water bill because they can't, so it's just turned off? That's cold.
I heard CFE did the same thing when people were behind on their electric in Penasco. No extra grace period during their lock down.
I don't know about Sonoyta but in Penasco lot's of homes still have a water tank as a back-up. (delivery in Summer was spotty in past years).
Hopefully there's people still using tanks in Sonoyta too.

They have been denied entrance to Penasco for Doctors, Dentists, Medicines, Food and supplies. They can not visit family or go to their homes. Businesses that buy supplies to sell in Sonoyta are also denied entrance. They do not have a hospital in Sonoyta and are currently at 42 cases, but they say the number is much higher.

This is terrible and unconscionable situation. Unfortunately there are lots of Ejidos in a similar situation in Sonora. The have small clinics but are not able to care for seriously ill folks. the people are pulling together as best possible but it's too little too late for many. Even Penasco has barely enough beds for routine hospital needs but IMHO Penasco has no right to retain state or local taxes. The only reason they did not overflow earlier is they sent the possible ill folks to Hermosillo.

The municipality of Sonoyta today registered 1 death and 5 new cases, one of them in a pregnant woman. Sonoyta currently accumulates 47 cases and 3 deaths.
Today Sonora registered 26 deaths and 264 new cases.

Freight train knocks down electrical wiring, causing extensive damage
Significant damage to vehicles and infrastructure left the train passing this afternoon on the urban case of Puerto Peñasco.
Apparently, the excessive size of some wagons of the freight train caused that in its path it dragged the electrical wiring from the height of 13th street, to the crossing of the road that is located on Benito Juárez and Kino boulevards.
Consequently, 6 concrete and wooden light poles were knocked down, some of them falling on vehicles and businesses in the area.
10 vehicles and 3 businesses were damaged, and at least one of them suffered total losses, the rest with severe and light damage.
This accident caused several sectors of the city to be without electricity, and as long as the repair work is carried out, they will continue without electricity until at least Sunday afternoon.

They are cheap enough to put one in as backup. we still have water problems.
