Found this today on facebook. I hope they open the town for us to move around soon even if its not the entry to town. They must know when they are thinking of reopening since they cancelled this in June and are allowing scheduling a band in Sept 25. Please post if you see an announcement of their plans for us to reopen.
Thank you very much for your patience regarding Circus Mexicus 2020. As promised by April 27, we've looked at several options given the cards the Co...ronavirus has dealt us, spoken with several officials in Puerto Peñasco and brainstormed dozens of ideas all in an effort to maintain the tradition we've all created together for 21 years. At this time, it's no longer feasible to continue planning Circus Mexicus June 4-7, 2020 and are recommending everybody cancel all travel plans. As difficult as this is to announce, we're confident it's in the best interest of everybody especially the citizens of Puerto Peñasco and Northern Mexico. Full refunds for tickets purchased will be issued this week. If you'd like to learn how to support those in need in Puerto Peñasco, we encourage you to visit and learn about the amazing work our friends at www.stepsoflove.org are doing.
Having said that, we're very excited to announce Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers will be returning to Rocky Point not once, but twice in 2020! The weekends will have a similar schedule and intimate vibe as our January Jam weekends, using Banditos and other stages around town to amplify the fun. Grab your calendars and circle September 25-27, 2020 as well as November 20-22, 2020. RCPM will return for January Jam - RCPM MLK Weekend, January 15-17, 2021.
We encourage everybody to visit our friends at Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort - www.laspalomasresort.net or Bella Sirena - www.penascoluxury.com and book your condos now for these dates. Ticket information and line up will be announced soon.
In the meantime, in lieu of a stage from where to work and play, we'll continue to gratefully accept support at our Venmo account @RogerClyneandthePeacemakers as well as at orders@peacetimegoods.com on Paypal.
Expect news soon regarding an RCPM Live Circus Mexicus Edition streaming event at www.rogerclyneandthepeacemakersLIVE.com in early June!
Can't wait that long? Details regarding a Cinco de Mayo edition Live concert with special guest appearances on May 5th at 6pm PT (Arizona) will be announced later today!
Thank you and Play On!
- Roger, PH, Nick & Jim
Might do a little research on what life was like incarcerated in a Jap concentration camp in the 1940's, especially if yer of the Caucasian persuasion.
That will be all you have to look forward to this summer, fall and maybe forever.
Checkout farcebook today about the pangueros tossing a few fish out from their first time in weeks returning to home trailed boats to the starving minions in downtown PP. Kinda like old Hey Sus Cristo miraculously making bread and fishies from nothing for the starving camel flea infested minions back in the imaginary days.
As per current state of AZ Jack Boot Commie protocol, RCPM is not allowed to perform ANYWHERE IN PUBLIC in AZ until further notice..... maybe years from now as well.
Dream on people.
Check with yer Mexie security service lately? All of your goods and toys safe and secure down in PP and Las Conchas? As per my Gringo stick-it-out landlord of my casita in Mirador says last night, the RP cops couldn't give a shit about the locals raiding anything owned by the rich roaches from El Norte.

Troll is similar to racist. People like to slap that label on others they don't agree with. They hope it will shut them up.

Is this for your little buddy, or do you feel like you were being called a troll? I've never thought you were a troll. Maybe off-center if you get my drift, but hey, we all have problems. Are you asking someone to make them stop? Stop what?

Kiko Munro delivery first quick tests for Coronavirus Covid-19 + A first batch of 400 arrives and 2 thousand more are coming + When tested and negative, residents and visitors will be able to move to the health fence Mayor Kiko Munro reported that with the aim of declaring Puerto Peñasco municipality free of Coronavirus Covid-19, the first 400 quick tests were delivered to detect that disease. The President of Puerto Peñasco revealed that another 2 thousand more tests are on the way, which will start tentatively used this week, to reaffirm the work to keep this municipality healthy. Kiko Munro explained that the first 400 exams will be free and will apply to people of Peñasco who present some symptoms compatible with Coronavirus, to channel suspicious cases in a more timely manner to their hospital care. He added that the other 2 thousand tests, which are coming, which will have a symbolic cost, are meant to be applied in the Peñasco-Sonoyta access filter of the sanitary fence, for everyone, asymptomatic or symptomatic, who wants to enter and check so it doesn't come contaminated with the pandemic. In all cases, he exposed, the quick tests will be applied by Red Cross's first responder Covid-19 Unit, and in the case of those that will be used in the access health filter, it will be that benemerita institution that copper the cost of the test, to generate a revolving fund that will continue to acquire more of these exams. " We make the first investment and make it available to Red Cross, and they will be practicing these tests to those who wish to enter the municipality, either because they were outside the health fence even when they are residents; but also to that visit that, even, intends to come and vacation in Puerto Peñasco and do it safely, because with the test they will be able to prove that they do not have the presence of the virus ", he explained. Kiko Munro added that these quick tests will be applied in Hotels, restaurants and other tourist industry businesses, so that their employees can practice and guarantee so they are not infected. The Mayor stressed that the goal is for Puerto Peñasco to be declared a free municipality of Covid-19, and therefore these strategies are implemented, which have proven to be effective in other parts of the world. The President of Puerto Peñasco said to ignore if other municipalities in Sonora are also using quick tests of Coronavirus detection, but undoubtedly, it is something that will help reactivate in a scientific and safe way, in terms of public health the economic activity that so necessary becomes for Puerto Peñasquenses citizens. He announced that this Tuesday, in virtual meeting with Governor Claudia Pavlovich and other mayors of the entity, in which these prevention and control systems will be informed, in addition to the low statistics of Coronavirus in the municipality, it will be proposed that it will be proposed allow gradually releasing economic and school activities, to name a few, from, if possible, the first week of May. " It is not up to me this decision, but I believe we have sacrificed and made the effort, government and society, to maintain order, control, public health and therefore deserve that consideration to restore everyday life with the normal we are used to ", he stressed. Kiko Munro said that every passing day Puerto Peñasco is closer to the release of this health emergency and closer to achieving the goal of having the least possible cases and, with it, aspire that you can transit this pandemic without any death, to confirm that Peñasco stands out for working together, society and government. Oscar Castro Castro, holder of the Municipal Health Coordination, said that the arrival of quick tests for Coronavirus Covid-19 represent safety and tranquility for Puerto Peñasco. He made it clear that having these exams is certain which patients have to be attended; it can be reconfirmed that already healed cases and their contacts are free from the virus; and, in addition, the possibility of starting to let residents enter the port they couldn't do it.
I prefer the company of Caucasians especially Caucasian WOMEN.
My four dogs are all racist WHITE wolf husky mix. You know the type, 150 pounders that howl all day long with yellow eyes that glow green in the dark. They are killers, anything that they don't eat they toss in the pool for further use. Think diving in and spotting a dead cat at the bottom, maybe a Yorkie or even a Chi-Doodle that someone tossed over the wall.
I do troll hundreds of hours every year on my nice fish killing machine equipped with twin Yammies that suck up gazillions of gallons of gazoline per hour.
I only kill Groupers, Sierras, Dorados and Coches. The rest I toss back like the trash they are.
I race my Ford Raptor anytime and anywhere I can since I am a racist and can't stop the feeling.
As for being labeled a troll, nice try since I don't even live under a bridge. I have my walled in 118 year old hacienda here in Yuma all open to the sun where me and she can spend weeks at a time never leaving the fortress for anything.
In the past this forum was always open to discussions on a wide range of subjects, like it or not. Seems now to have been completely taken over by eight or ten sour assed jerks that go on the rampage over the slightest minuscule statement that that doesn't meet their prissy little feelings.
Of course the real problem here is common sense and humor where none seems to be of any interest to anyone here.
This guy Jim who apparently owns Willy's Jeep parts doesn't actually have the parts he advertises. I strongly suggest you not to trust what he says on the phone when you are buying, he just makes it up, he will take your credit card and immediately charge it and he'll give you a delivery date - and that's the last you will hear from. Won't return calls or emails. If you do catch this poser on the phone again, he somehow find a way to angrily make his incompetence your problem.
Also, while he hasn't shipped it to you and doesn't actually have the parts on hand, he lowers the price by over $200 on his website, let's it slip that he's found a new supplier for these parts he doesn't have but goes into a pathetic rage when you question it. Unbelievable. Will file complaints with Arizona Attorney General and BBB as well.
The mayor explained the first 400 tests will be free, and only given to people in Puerto Peñasco that present Covid-19 like symptoms, in order to channel suspected cases to medical attention as quickly as possible. In addition, the 2000 tests set to arrive shortly, costing around 1800 pesos (about $90 US) each, will be applied at the sanitary filter road block on the Peñasco-Sonoyta highway to anyone, with symptoms or asymptomatic, who wishes to enter though prove they are not positive for the virus.
The mayor pointed out in all cases the rapid tests will be administered by the first response Covid-19 Unit of the Red Cross. For tests done at the Peñasco-Sonoyta roadblock sanitary filter, the cost of the test will be collected by the Red Cross to create a revolving fund for the purchase of more test kits
After making the initial investment, the City Administration will put testing in the hands of the Red Cross so they can apply this to anyone wishing to enter the municipality, whether a resident caught outside the sanitary filter when it went into effect, or visitors who plan to safely vacation in Puerto Peñasco, with evidence by testing that they are not positive for the virus.
Test kits ordered from China range in price from $3.00 to $7.00 per unit and are not 100% accurate (far lower from several different articles). Seems like $90.00 is really high to be allowed to enter. The money will be used to buy back more tests, but they didn't say how the profits will be used.
If I read the most recent announcement correctly, and remember that all of this could change at any moment, it looks like the lockdown will effectively end in a few days for anyone willing to pay $90 for rapid testing on the way in (or back in for those of us still in Puerto Peñasco). One of us needs to go up into Southern California for a few days and it would be great to expect to get back in. Hopefully the “rapid test” is truly rapid (some are an hour or so) or at least they will “quarantine“ you at your residence while awaiting the result, We also have some neighbors who are stuck north of the border waiting to get back down.

Boy, that is an expensive beer. How do you amortize $180 (for 2) across a case of tecate?
So tor those of us who have endured the lockdown here in Penasco, if we drive to the sanitary filter, get the test we are relieved of the restrictions and can go about out lives as usual prior to the lockdown ???? Do we get stamped N on the forehead?

Mexico Tells Towns, States: Stop Putting Up Virus Roadblocks and Curfews
The department said in a statement that such measures violate constitutional rights like the right to free movement, and argued that local governments don’t have the authority to enact them.
“The health emergency does not constitute a state of emergency or suspension of rights,” the department wrote.
Other than some of the announcements about cancelled events the rest is as clear as mud to me. I get that there will be testing started at some point soon on the Sonoyta highway stop, to allow entry, back to work permission, and free access but what about the other 40,000 of us lonesome strangers still here? Date of reopening coming soon....
At a virtual meeting held on April 28th with Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich, along with mayors from across the state and Government Secretaries, Puerto Peñasco mayor Ernesto Kiko Munro proposed a date be defined for the gradual reopening of economic and social activities in Sonora and municipalities. He also urged that Puerto Peñasco be considered as a municipality free of Covid-19.
The mayor explained the Sonora Health and Safety Board still has to meet to begin defining a date or term to begin reactivating certain parts of social and economic life. At the State Board meeting, which is still pending, the diverse proposals will be addressed, which the mayor hopes will be received favorably by the state authorities.
The mayor further detailed, with respect to the rapid tests for detection of Covid-19 that are now being done in Puerto Peñasco, these meet the norms and protocols of the World Health Organization and the United Nations.
In a state Press Release following the virtual meeting with mayors and state officials, Governor Claudia Pavlovich highlighted, following coordinated work of residents and authorities, as a whole the state is 51% below numbers of Covid-19 cases initially projected for the end of April for Sonora.
While 57 of Sonora’s 72 municipalities are free of any Covid-19 cases, the Governor noted it is not time to let down our guard as the peak in Sonora is expected the second part of May, particularly between May 10th – 20th. State Public Safety Secretary David Anaya Cooley told the mayors, “with respect to the pandemic, I ask you to see May 20th as the challenge, to accomplish what you have achieved thus far, to provide calm to our families.”
From March 16th, when Covid-19 was first detected in Sonora, to April 28th, there have been: Confirmed Covid-19 cases: 267, Deaths: 31, Recovered: 42, Overall tests: 1253
The majority of the Covid-19 cases have been in San Luis Rio Colorado (131), followed by Hermosilo (55), Huatabamo (17), Cajeme (16), Nogales (12), Caborca (8), Guaymas (7), Navojoa (6), Magdalena and Saric with 4 each, Opedepe and Etchojoa with 2 each, and one confirmed case in each of the cities of Agua Prieta, General Plutarco Elias Calles (Sonoyta), and Puerto Peñasco
I'm not selfish enough to demand shit re-open. I definitely miss not being able to visit Cholla Bay right now. My hope would be that we get one trip in before July. That would be enough to satisfy this thirst. The last 3 years, from SuperBowl weekend to Mid June I have gotten down to CB 6 times each year respectively. I hit the spring months hard! Last year we had two, two trip months. Then we put RP on layaway until Labor Day or October. Usually never go in December or January and then BOOM! February - June like I'm FM3 SON!
This morning we were expecting a visit from Hacienda del Sol to perform maintenance on blinds they installed and measure for blinds in another room. The truck was stopped at a police checkpoint and turned around. Also we heard from acquaintances who are building a house down the street. Their crew (from out of town) got arrested a few days ago for ignoring the shut down orders. Acquaintances had to bail them out of jail.

I am jonesing for the beach, water & Penasco and will be first in line to get to Mexico when it opens.
Hubby tried to get into town to pay electric, but no go. Asked how long in Penasco area. We came down last night. Friend on the beach has been down over 2 weeks is allowed in

Did they let you into town last night through the big checkpoint just south of the overpass?
We don't have to go through that- checkpoint because we turn at the Caborca highway,so Miramar and Dorada homeowners can get to their homes. That is the only checkpoint to get to town or to LC or Encanto

Heading South towards Peñasco, As I understand it the police road block is on the south side of the bridge. If so is it possible for me to head south and take the Caborca freeway out to Miramar and miss the police altogether?

Just one entrance into town, even miners buses can't get through that east side entrance or either, I personally wouldn't attempt it, they will turn you back like everyone else.
Yes dirt, you miss the checkpoint. If you want to get to Encanto or town, there's a checkpoint right after you make the turn to go to Penasco going west.

Dog , when they moved the sanitary stop south on the Sonoita highway they inadvertently opened up an unrestricted access to town by taking the Caborca cut off east at the overpass and down to the Carborca highway and entering west of the sanitary stop/ It is wide open.

MIRAMAR I hope you feel special about your announcement about Your special, secret , open untested entry to Penasco that is now public and on Facebook. It's a great joke on the rest of us. Yea. I know not your fault the city made a mistake. Why should you not take advantage and suffer at home when you can expose others. giggle giggle. Get out to the highway and welcome the untested Caborcans and others to a weekend in Penasco. I do wish you would have acted a little more responsibly. I'm tired of lockup and if there are more positive tests I'll be locked up longer. Thanks. Hope you enjoy your stay but do not infect your neighbors.check the definition of irresponsible. This is not a silly parlor game it is about peoples lives.
Sorry for my rant I realize you should not have to give up a few nice days at your home on the beach just for creating a potential serious risk for the lives of a few others. Probably only a few people, right? Not too many, and it is not too serious for children, only the infirm and elderly. Cull the herd the politicians say. Your president has said it's not that serious., so few nice days at the beach for you are not a big risk for others. Right. Lets be fair, a house on the beach is a big investment, why should it go to waste. The error was the governments not me. Any more virus coming to town will be their responsibility. Hate irresponsible government don't you ?
Hope you sleep well tonight, but do not take off your mask.
Beer sales are way up at the first OXXO on the Caborca highway and Josefa.

Three cheers for Corona Virus !!!!
Stay home like a frightened snowflake and you won't be exposed. Your fear and panic doesn't dictate how the rest of us get to live our lives. Mexico and the US have a thing called the Constitution.
Roberto, please explain how Miramar would . . . in an enclosed vehicle on the bypass road outside of Penasco, taking the Caborca highway to a turnoff at a remote beach community 25 minutes outside of Penasco, and pulling directly into a garage to enter a private beach home . . . would endanger anyone on the planet. Does Mexico or Sonora have a specific mandate that forbids any travellers en route to their homes? Apparently the border isn’t stopping anyone (?)
Stay home like a frightened snowflake and you won't be exposed. Your fear and panic doesn't dictate how the rest of us get to live our lives. Mexico and the US have a thing called the Constitution.
Pleeeeeeeasssssseeeeeeee.
Sorry not afraid, just a bit cautious, But It's real, talk to a health care worker who has seen and dealt with patients suffering from it.
Take a note from the past when smallpox was around, people going wherever they wanted spreading it and wiping out whole towns
that they visited. Why could this happen? They didn't know or care what would happen to others.
But you need to remember it will be over sooner than later.
After everything settles back down and things return to whatever the new normal will be,
only then we can go back to bickering about something new and be the great friends on RPT, we know we can be.
I don't think the people who wrote the articles of Constitution had Pandemics in mind when they brainstormed it
or the amendments that were added later.
Well it is a little complicated and involves personal values ,so i understand you and Steve might need some more explanation. I am not going to go over all the highway connections in detail but the reveal of this unprotected bypass opens up an unprotected route from Arizona,, Sonoyta, Caborca, Hermosillo and lots of other towns. Its' a short jaunt to go around the Safety barrier on the Sonoita highway now by taking the Caborca leg east from the big overpass just before the inspection station to the Y connection on the Caborca highway just outside of Penasco . All communities west of that Y connection are now available with out inspection. That includes Puerto Penasco.now and on Facebook.
The barrier was north of the big underpass effectively cutting of that shortcut to the Caborca road and moved to the south of the big underpass after folks were going through the mesa to the Caborca road. i guess no one thought of it as a shortcut into Penasco.
It has less to do with endangering the planet but lots to do with respect for and not endangering your fellow residents and making public a route to bring the virus into Penasco from other unprotected communities. I assure you the word has gone out in these other communities and the people will come . Hopefully enforcement will snap to this and close the gap. I personally do not need a government mandate to have respect for other people. The barriers and health inspections are not a joke, they there for the protection of all the people, even you and your family. as it seems to be working given the frequency of virus. I admit I may nave snuck abound myself, I was aware of the shortcut, but I would have kept my mouth shut and covered.
I cannot recall the numbers or the total description but it was of one person, from a church group who refused precautions but went to services anyway. Because of the groups church relation they were able to trace hundreds of virus cases from the disrespect of one person.
Stay home like a frightened snowflake and you won't be exposed. Your fear and panic doesn't dictate how the rest of us get to live our lives. Mexico and the US have a thing called the Constitution.
I did not expect you to no understand the concepts of responsibility and respect so I am not at all surprised by your response. Little girls are like that.
If people keep doing as they wish then we will have an outbreak and we will not be opening sooner then later....It's common sense. We all know we will get it some day, but we all can't get it at the same time. It's not that hard to understand. If everyone follows the guidelines then we can start getting back to normal as per this article.

Business leaders and the local administration held a virtual meeting on May 1st, seeking initial agreements on how to gradually reopen Puerto Peñasco. Mayor Ernesto Kiko Munro detailed the 24 members of the Puerto Peñasco Business Advisory Board, including representatives from the Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV) and local Chamber of Commerce (CANACO), agreed on providing a pathway for alternatives to gradually restart some economic and social activities.
The mayor explained following an exchange of opinions and proposals, they agreed to maintain the sanitary health filter (roadblock), which has been in operation for three weeks, in order to provide a way for certain activities within the city itself to reopen possibly by May 10th.
“In the commercial sector, we are evaluating activities to restart based on successful cases in other countries, in adherence to recommendations and guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO). In the social realm, some outdoor exercise activities could be feasible, with due restrictions as well as constant healthy distance protocols and hygiene,” he furthered.
The idea, explained the mayor, is to begin to generate mobility within Puerto Peñasco itself and only with the people of Peñasco, that means beaches would remain closed, as well as bars and nightclubs, in addition to zero large events and other restrictions.
He clarified the return of tourism would be later, once companies within the field are accredited as “Covid-19 free”. To achieve this, tourism service providers would have to find ways to demonstrate they are negative for coronavirus to provide certainty to visitors once this health emergency is over.
“These proposed guidelines are so that Puerto Peñasco doesn’t remain 100% detained for much longer, that some activities can begin to revive in an orderly and safe manner so that, in due time, the port can gradually reopen to visitors and with it the necessary flow so local economic activity can once again be viable and, above all, provide the ability to support thousands of families,” stated the mayor.
These proposals will be submitted to the Municipal Health and Safety Board for consensus. Most importantly, clarified the mayor, these steps are subject to Puerto Peñasco maintaining a low incidence of Covid-19 coronavirus, which is why it is necessary for residents to not let their guard down and continue to stay home.
Roberto, there's a higher probability you'll spread the virus by going to town than us sitting in our house, not interacting with anyone. I saw 2 people today and they were about a quarter of a mile away.
Hubby tried to get into town to pay electric, but no go. Asked how long in Penasco area. We came down last night. Friend on the beach has been down over 2 weeks is allowed in
I have to ask how is going into town to pay electric considered staying at home quarantining why not pay your bill online
RP do you go to the store? He had a mask and was going to use the ATM and social distance. But were here not seeing anyone
I have not left Puerto Penasco since January. You stated you arrived last night so you did not follow the quarantine procedure of 12 days in your home before attempting to access the town per the guidelines that are in place.
You are also required to wear mask, gloves and glasses after quarantine....
Yes, but you have traveled around Penasco, possibly being infected or spreading the infection.
You are definitely missing the point....I followed protocol you did not and are telling people how to get in....If I was infecting people all over then why is the first case from a man that came from Mexicali and the 2nd from Tijuana who snuck around the sanitary filter. Definitely not me...
You are wrong in what you are saying and doing so at this point just own it and let sleeping dogs lie.
I dont see any mention about gloves and glasses, and says its closed for entry after 10 in RP 360. Hope you dont pickt raveling around Penasco -done talking with you- stay well!
I did not expect you to no understand the concepts of responsibility and respect so I am not at all surprised by your response. Little girls are like that.
I don't expect you to understand the concepts of fear, panic and freedom. So I am not surprised by your media driven hysteria. Snowflakes are like that.
Well it is a little complicated and involves personal values ,so i understand you and Steve might need some more explanation. . . . .
It has less to do with endangering the planet but lots to do with respect for and not endangering your fellow residents and making public a route to bring the virus into Penasco from other unprotected communities. . . . .I cannot recall the numbers or the total description but it was of one person, from a church group who refused precautions but went to services anyway. Because of the groups church relation they were able to trace hundreds of virus cases from the disrespect of one person.
I was not aware that the road block on the eastern side of town was removed, thus allowing access from the east of town. Thing is, sheltering in place is nevertheless still enforced (?) and any evil-intentioned predators from the east of town would find themselves lonely and disarmed. I personally believe that, as in the US, The People do not need to be corralled to protect themselves from themselves. They’re (by now) knowledgeable enough, wise enough, and respectful enough to abide by guidelines where law enforcement is absent. And as you point out, law enforcement will close the gap if indeed throngs of people are for some weird reason drawn to a city on lockdown.
As for the church attendee, that person attended a service that apparently had been prohibited. Those at the gathering were therefore all irresponsible – at least in the manner in which they conducted the gathering. There will always be defectors, and our exercising preventive guidelines protects the rest of us from them.
I am (as are, I’m certain, others) not seeking to override Penasco’s orders and imperil the city. Just looking to get to our homes in a way that is is currently allowed.
I dont see any mention about gloves and glasses, and says its closed for entry after 10 in RP 360. Hope you dont pickt raveling around Penasco -done talking with you- stay well!
I agree with RP Life but You are missing the big point. You, by public revealing this access, have exposed us all to potential visitors who have the virus and have not been screened and kept out of the community. Up until then we could have some confidence due to the restricted entrance of visitors and compliance by our neighbors and very low incidence of infection, . Your behavior shows a lack of concern and respect for the rest of the community, not that YOU will bring the virus, you showed the way to others. Your visit to the beach was far more important to you than the health of the rest of the community and you wanted everyone to know about it. Typical self serving 'I am more important than you ' behavior. Disrespect for others in the community is a pandemic in the US, starting at the top.
I was not aware that the road block on the eastern side of town was removed, Was not removed, relocated. thus allowing access from the east of town. Thing is, sheltering in place is nevertheless still enforced (?) and any evil-intentioned No worry about evil intentions, hedonistic desire for alcohol driven fun is the primary attractant to Penasco. predators from the east of town would find themselves lonely and disarmed. As for the church attendee, that person attended a service that apparently had been prohibited. The service was no in the us and was permitted with proper group protections, under that governments guidelines. The point of this was to illustrate the damage a single person can do.
Well said. It seems that following the regulations, as defined by many different agencies, has had a good result in Penasco. I for one am hoping for some relief soon. It bothers me that the efforts of those who complied to successfully prevent the spread in or community are disrespected and then bragged about in a public venue. Has nothing to do with Mirimar's sneaky visit or concern about her personally spreading the virus. It has to do with concern about the potential effects of her personally, publicly revealing a way to reduce the effectiveness of on going attempts to slow the spread of the virus. The large communities that traditionally provide the majority of the summer fun seekers to town have very high rates of infection and lack of compliance with the state wide health mandates to slow the spreading of the virus. They are not predators just the usual irresponsible beer swilling, careless ATV drivers visitors who come to enjoy the town. we just want them to wait till things are under better control.
Good point. A hedonistic desire for alcohol-driven fun tends to be stifled in a temporary ghost town where bars / restaurants are closed.
Yes, a single person (or group) can cause damage. That is why we all take preventive measures.
Again – tell me if I’m wrong – the yahoos seeking venues and adult beverages would find the doors closed (?)
pretty much everything is closed except some (restaurants) are open for takeout....no bars though. As a matter of fact the little hardware store in my hood didn't have any lacquer thinner and I ask the girl when it would come in.."quien sabes?" "who knows?" she said, hardware is not essential so the trucks aren't coming....

Thanks for confirming. When restaurants open up, I'll take that as a clue that visitors are welcomed into town. Meanwhile, I'm stuck up here in the US eating tacos with eyes closed, in front of a fan, with Mexican music in the background, pretending that I'm up at Casa del Capitain. . . . . :(
I just got back from Sam’s. If anything, town is continuing to empty out. Fewer cars on the road than last week. Food items are well stocked. So much toilet paper that it’s on sale. We’ve not been to a restaurant since March 9.
Good point. A hedonistic desire for alcohol-driven fun tends to be stifled in a temporary ghost town where bars / restaurants are closed. Well you know very little about Penasco's party drinking habits among the locals. Ask any bar owner, the bars are empty. Watch at an Oxxo as the beer is in the bed, loaded often in just a bag of ice. Look in the bed of the pickups trucks patrolling the streets. the bed is rockin and the folks are waving mostly red and silver cans. The street taco stands do a great business, and ALL of them are open, the restaurants will be EMPTY. the party is in the street. Business is poor even at the table dance. They don't come here to buy hardware or toilet paper ! ja ja ja ja
Yes, a single person (or group) can cause damage. That is why we all take preventive measures. Yes and take care to help protect our neighbors.
Again – tell me if I’m wrong – the yahoos seeking venues and adult beverages would find the doors closed (?)
I thought you have been to Penasco before. You know little to nothing about Peasco's fiestas. The venue is the streets and the malecon and playa here. The doors to the many OXXOS and take out alcohol sales are full of buyers. It's the same pretty much all over Mexico. Here is't just a normal Weekend summer night. Stat at 11PM end at 5 AM.
No one hopes I am wrong more than I do and they stay home but you still miss the message about respect

Just read the first guy at the hospital just passed and his roommate has been located, they been on the hunt for roommate for a couple days, they worked the parking lots of the ley express and bodega. Salvadoran decent says, I frequent the ley express myself, very good products, is the back door still open cause that's how they got in from TJ, says the article on defrente.
Dead man who tested positive for Covid-19 in quick test in Puerto Peñasco
*Roommate who traveled from Tijuana to Puerto Peñasco has been located in front of Bodega Aurrera after days "disappeared"
- The sample taken and sent to the laboratory of the state of Sonora of the now deceased is still waiting for results of the analysis to confirm or discard as negative.
- The man died at the General Hospital of Puerto Peñasco, where he was admitted.
- The Municipal Health Coordinator, Dr. Oscar Castro, disclosed that the patient had complications in his health and died yesterday, May 2, at 6:50 a.m.
- The subject who is said, traveled from Tijuana to this port and managed to dodge the sanitary filter through a breach and with the help of another person, had not been able to be located, after going to the home of both people, so he was presumed to walk on the streets of the city, and if also positive to the coronavirus , may be spreading it to other people.
- The subject was finally located in front of Bodega Aurrera, and will be isolated.
- It was noted that the housing partner of the deceased, of Salvadoran origin, worked in the parking area of one or two supermarkets of the city (Express Ley and Bodega Aurrera).
- It was clarified that, while the Ministry of Health had not made this case official, the chances of the deceased man being positive were very high.
- The "traila" inhabited by both people was sanitized to prevent any risk of contagion.
- Dr. Castro made the request to appropriate authorities for the cremation of the deceased subject's body, a request denied by the agreement of the Ministry of Health prohibiting the incineration of unidentified and identified unclaimed bodies who died as a result of SARS-CoV2 virus disease (COVID-19) and suggesting measures for the recording of deaths in the context of the health emergency.

He was at work in the parking lot when they found him. Someone posted a video on facebook
Good vision but irrelevant. I spread snowflakes !! Stop avoiding the issue. You opened the door to opportunity.
Well yes – Now that you’ve expounded, I had missed your point. And although I’ve been coming to the Penasco area once a month for over 20 years, I only make occasional trips into town during the day. So yes – your description of Penasco’s party drinking habits in the streets among the locals is new to me. Either way, Roberto, I’m not looking to split hairs over this, but rather to reason that it is not about disrespect. Disrespect is an intentional thing. Inadvertently revealing a “secret” in the process of informing others of a (legal) path to their homes is at worst, well-intentioned, but lacking perspective. The intent was to be helpful. In fact, you were also helpful in explaining the dynamics of Penasco street parties. That’s what this forum used to do – educate and inform, without (as some do) verbal tomato throwing.
Well yes – Now that you’ve expounded, I had missed your point. Disrespect is an intentional So she 'accidentally' posted about the bypass???? ja ja ja ja thing. Inadvertently revealing a “secret” in the process of informing others of a (legal) path to their homes .....The town is closed by LEGAL mandate and protected by several law enforcement agencies. that information has been on news, the Forum and all over the internet. It is there to protect people's lives, not just to prevent a party. Now tell me Mirimar who is an informed frequent visitor here was un aware that the entry roads are closed and inspection is mandatory and guarded by 4 law enforcement agencies. She was fully aware her action was illegalis at worst, well-intentioned, but lacking - RESPEct - perspective. The intent was to be helpful. Well it was helpful to at least the 4 carloads of youngsters with no masks, drinking beer along the road surrounding a broken down vehicle yesterday. Right smack in the middle of Unconscious. The police were there.
I have 2 questions, a quick one and a more complicated one:
1) quick question: is/was there ever a checkpoint on the Caborca highway for people coming from Hermosillo/Nogales/etc? I think there would have to be because anyone coming from east of Penasco could turn onto Freemont before reaching the overpass. Regardless of the location of the main checkpoint at the overpass, you would have to lockdown the access to Freemont from the Cabroca highway, no?
2) complicated question: The lockdown makes sense if the goal is to make RP "safe" internally, i.e. keep residents in a bubble where they can circulate with relatively low risk within city limits. But then what happens when the lockdown is lifted? Whether its in 2 weeks or 2 months, once it is lifted, won't the town and its people be instantly exposed to the same risks they are now trying to avoid? This is the part I don't understand... The mayor wants to keep cases low so that the town can gradually "re-open" but what does that mean in reality? Won't outside visitors immediately put everyone in town back at risk? Can someone clarify this point? What am I missing?
Geez, Roberto. You’re beating this to death. And I’m done tossing Miramar back and forth between us. I might’ve done the same based on my perspective. In fact, I’ve done similar posts in the past, when people were concerned about the flooded Caborca Road. No evil intended. I’ve explained it all above. At this point, I’m done spoon feeding. Be happy and well.

They are wanting to do a "slow" transmission to not overwhelm the lack of medical staff and supplies that are here. They are also trying to give time for the other close areas to recover to be able to send sick people there if needed. We only had 5 vents available here and limited supplies for the medical staff to keep them safe. If we have an outbreak then who will be able to open all the essential stores for supplies or to take care of them in the hospital if everyone is too sick. If done correctly in waves then the town will survive. If done incorrectly there will be no town to come back to.
There are people here that have recovered from what they think was the flu, but it could have been the virus. They did not need medical treatment and recovered at home.
There is different articles about the rapid tests that Penasco received. Are they tests for active CV in people or Antibody tests?
Can anyone provide some clarification on this? Translate app's don't do that well on the notices I've seen. Thx

This is an RNA test for active COVID infections. Nearly all commercial antibody tests currently are somewhere between unreliable and worthless. Also various tests purportedly test for different antibodies (it’s not clear which one should be preferred). Finally, we don’t have a sense as to whether the presence of antibodies implies immunity, and for how long.
i would like to know exactly which rapid RNA test they are using here.

Thx, I read the tests RP bought came from either China or Korea.
Also Roche has a Antibody test that's 99.9% accurate and was approved by the FDA today.

This guy is saying they rapid test for CV.
Just don't get it the town has been compromised from people coming and going from the East entrance, People coming from the north already know social distancing and how to prevent corvid 19. It's not going to go away. The locals are going to start revolting within the next week, when do you open the beaches and restaurants. Just asking for a friend.
Just read the first guy at the hospital just passed and his roommate has been located, they been on the hunt for roommate for a couple days, they worked the parking lots of the ley express and bodega. I knew there was a good reason I do not let any of the helpers at the grocery touch anything, car washers too. Suoer Ley has the parking helpers who keep the rest out of the lot. Good idea.
I knew there was a good reason I do not let any of the helpers at the grocery touch anything, car washers too. Suoer Ley has the parking helpers who keep the rest out of the lot. Good idea.
So the guy that died of corvid 19 roommate that was working the parking lots turned up negative for corvid19, do you think these tests are unreliable.
Well, when it comes to biology and thereby medicine there are probabilities attached to everything and virtually none are 100%. For example , Penicillin is a great antibiotic but it does not work 100% of the time. Some folks have, for what ever reason, natural resistances to some diseases, usually written off as natural antibodies that may be of genetic origin or maybe resulting from earlier, milder exposure to a disease. It's like craps, but with better odds.
I have 2 questions, a quick one and a more complicated one:
1) quick question: is/was there ever a checkpoint on the Caborca highway for people coming from Hermosillo/Nogales/etc? Yes and as far as I know there still is one. I as understand it , it was located between the resort and the town then moved east of the resort closer to the gold mine where there has been a military stop for some time.
I think there would have to be because anyone coming from east of Penasco could turn onto Freemont before reaching the overpass. Regardless of the location of the main checkpoint at the overpass, you would have to lockdown the access to Freemont from the Cabroca highway, no? Yes, exactly. The Sonoyta/ Penasco stop was north of the overpass but moved south when vehicles were observed driving through the desert to avoid the stop. This helped close off that drive around but in effect opened up uninspected access via the free way to Penasco via the dog leg east to the Penasco/caborca Y connection which at that point in conjunction with moving the Caborca stop further east and east of the Y, permtted entry , uninspected to Penasco via that route. Moving BOTH of the sanitary stops resulted in opening the door. Obvious uncoordinated oversight.
Sorry I screwed up the earlier, now edited, description of the stops !! It is accurate now as far as I know. I have thought about driving to both stops just to see but have had vehicle troubles.
I hope the alternate uninspected route has been stopped. Anyone know who to call about it.?
Geez, Roberto. You’re beating this to death. Wish I could beat it to death. But with the recent guys who snuck through, infected, should tell you how important the integrity of the sanitary stops are. And I’m done tossing Miramar back and forth between us. Me too. I've certainly done dumb stuff myself. I might’ve done the same based on my perspective. Yes I admitted I might have snuck around myself but that is not the point. Be happy and wll. And you and your family I hope stay well. Authorities have been notified about that open that route, hopefully they will close it off. I really do not want to spend another 14 weeks in seclusion.
On a good note I discovered I can get a Capone's pizza, and a selection from a smaller menu, for take out and remembered that shore fishing is legal !!!

Roberto- they are letting people into Penasco through the main checkpoint from outside of the area. We weren't trying to sneak in. On our way back to Tucson on Sunday afternoon, when we left Penasco, we saw a truck full of workers who drove to Sonoyta. And by the way, they didn't have face masks, gloves or goggles on.
Here's what RockyPoint 360 says:
"During a Wednesday night broadcast from the Puerto Peñasco administration’s official Facebook page, Municipal Health Coordinator Dr. Oscar Castro detailed with the beginning of Phase 3 in Mexico, and now the report of Puerto Peñasco’s first Covid-19 case, the following measures have gone into effect to bolster the preventive steps the city has already taken:
Mandatory use of masks when in public (for groceries, pharmacy, bank, or other essentials)
Masks available at Red Cross and Police Station for those that cannot find or purchase any
Sanitary filter at entrance to Puerto Peñasco along Sonoyta-Peñasco highway to be closed at 10 p.m. No one living in areas beyond the filter area (i.e Las Lagrimas, Laguna Shores, Hacienda de Cortez, etc.) will be allowed into city after 10 p.m. – which is when the nightly curfew siren rings anyway".
It never says anyone living outside the areas will not be allowed in. We never tried the other "secret" ways to get in.
We were following those rules, so I would love to see where your rules are posted (gloves, goggles) and no one allowed into town are reported. BTW, ignoring responses. Hope to see you at Bryans!
So the guy that died of corvid 19 roommate that was working the parking lots turned up negative for corvid19, do you think these tests are unreliable.
This was posted today on Rocky Point 360
They also posted we are at 1 confirmed case instead of 2
Earlier this week, Municipal Health Coordinator Dr. Oscar Castro Castro reported an individual in Puerto Peñasco tested positive for coronavirus per the rapid test kit. At the time, he also emphasized official confirmation as to whether this was indeed a second positive COVID-19 case for Puerto Peñasco would have to be issued by the State Secretary of Health via further swab testing. The latter test was reported as negative. Sadly, the individual in question passed away on Sunday May 3rd at the General Hospital in Puerto Peñasco

No one answered the question : How on this planet is anyone being exposed by me driving in my car and going straight to my beach house? There are still more cases and more deaths in the US from ordinary flu, driving accidents, drug overdoses and a myriad of other maladies and we do not crush the economy, bankrupt businesses and people and cause social unrest over these other sources of death.

I thought you were treated poorly for an informative post that I found useful. The level of argumentation and straight out trolling on this forum will eventually run off many people who might use it.
One point of correction however. The CDC estimate for ordinary influenza deaths in the US for all of 2019 is “24,000 to 62,000” (death certificates might list various causes such as respiratory failure, so there is an uncertainty. COVID-19 has already killed over 70,000 in the US by official count, most in just two months. Excess death rates in hot spots such as NYC suggest that the actual deaths are much higher, perhaps by a third, reflecting fatalities that were never tested. The US will likely have at least 150,000 deaths this year from COVID-19, and it could be much worse.
People need to weigh the economic damage vs the death's of 267K people in the World. (It's still rising 10 weeks into it)
The repercussions from both of these are Bad, you just have to pick the one you can live with.
Your choice maybe different than mine or others.
Those in charge already have, the economy is more important so some/many peoples deaths are the price to pay.
If the CV goes diminishes and comes back again this fall/winter add in the damage from round 2 or 3?
Who knows, Just an educated guess right now.
