You just have to love this story. Our gringo boosters would be telling them to just shut up because after all that is how things work in Mexico...

If Rocky Point had a Corrupt Tour where would it stop?

1. Sonoyta police station....speed trap to start the day
2.North Beach land grab
3. HomePort...long story
4.windmill ...power to Guaymas????
5. Boarded up trailer parks....because we needed more space for condo boom
6.city hall.....where the buck stops...literally
7.Police station.....where they know a thing or two about crime
8.Pemex...see the amazing shrinking liter of gas
9. Fish Market...where you get what you pay for...almost

LOL, we will just have to wait a lil' while before we read that this guy was killed for pointing things out or is arrested for his connection to organized crime.

It's the same here there just isn't the level of blatant killing that makes it seem so bad.

Even the "All mighty" party here has no allegiance other than the $, it's probably the only thing the entire world population has in common.

Jerry- that corruption list, are you talking about Penasco or Tucson?

Tucson cops can't be bought off...politicians can but you can pretty much get your business done without paying bribes...that is important...

Your right, the police can't be bought off, you have to pay the $300 ticket after they issue a ticket a day for each officer: http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/26432848/tucson-police-chief-speaks-on-new-policy-ticket-quota-or-proactive-policing

I would rather pay $20 in Mexico!

This sounds more like a Tucson fundraiser to me. Pretty smart move! Moral in the department is at an all time low due to issues with low compensation (pay) crappy equipment and bad computers. A little extra cash will fix all that and the chief will get a gold star from the mayor who will also love the 500% increase in citation revenue for the city which will be most helpful for him at election time. Everybody's happy and loves everybody cause money has greased the wheel!

Border Patrol starting pay at 60k a year has made all police grumpy.Having a shop in downtown tucson I have had a lot of interaction with the cops and they do a great job.It is not a in your face type of policing, more of a community policing style. The job pays pretty good too...
At TPD, we look out for our officers in a variety of different ways – including their pay.
We realize the importance of being able to take care of one’s self, as well as providing for the needs of a family. Based on an hourly rate, annual starting salary for a Tucson Police Officer is $45,968.00 and begins when a recruit is appointed to the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Training Center. Payday is every two weeks. Depending on their career, a patrol officer with the TPD can earn a yearly salary of more than $62,732.80. Detectives and those who reach a position higher than detective earn even more.

Morality aside, Mexico is more cost effective than the US when it comes to traffic tickets.

Naw... Think of it as a Highway Tax or as a donation to the underpayed officers !!
