If this is to be a public thing it needs to be listed in Rosies paper on the events calendar. I did not do it as I felt someone in charge needs to make the determination.
Well, it took a few days but found the first trike and it is almost ready for racing, minor engine touch ups, crankshaft (pedals) are in place however the pistons (tires) need repairs!!! and still looking for more!!!!
Snicker!!!!:razz: Oh, I can just see you riding this, Joe! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Gasp! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! The mental picture! Stop, I can't breathe! hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Thanks for the laugh!
Actually...it would probably be hilarious...I'd fall off! If you know how to ride a bike (yes, there are people who don't), then those big trikes are a bugger to ride. You're trying to balance yourself, and you don't need to, so you overcompensate and fall over. Years ago when my mom moved out to one of those retirement communitiies, we went looking for a bicycle for her...she tried a trike, and said "NO WAY".....I didn't believe her about it, and tried riding one myself...and almost fell over!
Kenny, it is exactly the same as that one, paint is a little faded plus the trailer, I went to Harbor Freight to get a hitch and found a tricycle just like the John Deere but red!!!
Sixty buck and HF has a coupon for 20% off for those loking for a brand new donations!!!
Thanks Mark, I know the kids from the school will love it, after the races of course!!! :eek3:

I found one John Deere like your's for $124 bucks!! I never did see the trailer anywhere though.
I found this ad at the Harbor Freight Tools web site. If anyone wants to go in, I'd buy one and bring any others down with me. They would come in a box, so sneaking them across the border would be easy and they have air filled tires for those dirt tracks (ha, ha!).
My mom volunteers her time at her church thrift store. I'll ask her to look this week. If we find anything, is there someone going down from Phoenix that can take them? It's just too friggin hot for me altho it's really tempting just to see all you guys doing this! Maybe I'll change my mind but in case I don't, someone will have to pick them up. Joe, you are going, aren't you? I could meet you at Sam's.
I like the Harbor Freight one. I'll buy one. I think we can get by with 4 per heat. What do you think Mark? Maybe we can still pull this thing off.
Seadweller said:
Hey you don't need to spend big bucks to do this it's just an idea and we can work at it... if it doesn't happen we can all still get together and maybe you can see who can roll me the farthest or something... but $50.00 is a bit pricey to be acting childish...
I'm all for this... but remember what I said earlier about spending big bucks... (see above) 4 per heat would be great, and yes we can still pull this off... big thanks in advance to all that participate and donate... you're all top notch in my book...
Ladyjeeper....if you find a trike, let me know...we'll figure out some way to get it down. I want to go...I'm planning on going...but....stuff happens....
Yeah, I'm thinking about it now, too. My friend said, "well, you can be hot here or hot in Mexico, which would you prefer?" I guess she has a point. I'll let everybody know if I find one(some) and if I'm going or not.

Inka...you beat me to the punch! Anyone else maybe interested?
Hey Pirate....is that item available at your local store? I checked mine and they didn't have it. Or, are you ordering it over the net? If so, how long for delivery?
I'll check today. The store I called is at Gilbert and Southern. They had some when I called, not sure now. If anyone wants to call and put one on their card, in my name...I'll pick them up. I gotta call a guy today about a used one, too. Apache Junction isn't far from me either, maybe they have some, too? Call me ASAP if you want to set something up, I'm in town everyday except weekends.
Good Point. Mark, We need to figure out day(s), time(s), rules, prizes, etc. so we can get the word out. It sounds like we will have at least 4 trikes so it looks like a go. I'm busy for the next couple days but we could get together on Friday or Saturday if you're available.
The HF store in Tucson only had the display one and I was told that they will get some sometime this week, I will check with them later and hopefully they will be in before departure!

Rules... we don't need no stinkin rules... as Ted Nugent once sang "It's a Free For All" just joking... I've wanted to say that all my life and this was the perfect moment...
Jim I will meet with you at the bar on friday... Barb and I will see what type of prizes we can weazel out of our friends (we've gotten pretty good at it) as I have said before our friends are the greatest and always willing to help us help the children...
I'm really looking forward to this event and getting the chance to meet with some of the great people from this forum... but most of all I'm happy we are doing something for the kids... and acting childish in doing so... thanks again to everyone involved...
My brother picked one up for me at the Harbor Frieght on 22nd in Tucson today. He said that they have plenty. just FYI. I'm sure that the bar can come with some prizes too. See ya Friday Mark.
Just checked with a couple HF stores in Phoenix/Glendale....they have the trike in stock (just not displayed)....the stores at 35 Ave./Bethany Home and 51 Ave./Bell Rd.
Should know by this weekend if I'm coming down. I'll pick one up if there aren't enough for the race.....
Which day were the races "planned" for???.....cause if I do come down, will most likely leave Penasco late Sunday evening(before the border closes) or early Monday morning.
Keep me posted on the final details and I'll be happy (as in grinning from ear to ear) to do my small part of promoting it.
You all might enjoy this YouTube of the 8th Annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel trike race down Lombard Street in San Francisco. I noticed some women participating in that event. How about women racing their trikes in RP? Think any of them would do it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iE9j7oECWM

Thanks Jim... you are already going above and beyond the call of duty, by allowing us to stage this event at the Camel Toe... and most of all pledging to donate a portion of your proceeds from the event to kids as well...
:chef: I'll keep the popcorn popping to keep everyone drinking more...
Tempe store says they have atleast 5.
Apache Junction says 5 also.
How many are we up to right now? I plan to get one and I think Bandicoot might buy the used one I found on Craigslist....if we're going to have enough new (I'd rather have new for the kids, anyway.) I'll tell him to hold off.
Jim, got with a buddy of mine and he is making a 'flyer' for the site and I'm going to try and get it blown up into decent sized posters for Penasco. We are looking to come down on Thursday and can 'spread the word' so to speak.
Wow, there were no tricycles at my mom's thrift store today. She's going again next Wed, so she will look again. You guys should hit some thrift stores and look. They will be cheap, like 5 bucks. I'll post up if I find any.

Well, here we go! Got the flyers back...can we make a headline at the home menu of the forum?
Hope they are okay, had to kinda rush him and I didn't have the Toe's art handy!!! Also emailed http://www.puerto-penasco.com/ and asked them to post up the thinner of the 2 (hope that's okay with you guys, trying to get it out there!)
Hey Guys! Remember me? The Tourism & Visitor Assistance office is open, and I'm working on this week's paper, so I've been a bit distracted. Bill Hale, I don't think you need to be "official" to give me a heads up if something is in the works. Thanks for thinking of me...
Huerita, if I can reprint your article, that would make it easier (It's great, by the way). I can get some prizes donated and maybe more trikes. Also, will cover the event and put some good pics up of the fun and the winners.
What I need from you all is a list of sponsors/contributors so we give them the proper mentions. Pirate, I've lifted your ad, by the way.
Mark, I'll take some pics off your website, okay?
Lastly, remember that we're still collecting plastic bottles for the recycling campaign to benefit UNIDEP. I can arrange pickup if you get bottles for me!
Noticed you have the Young Uns and the Old Farts. What about Women Who Still Have it In Them? Or Broads on Bikes? Cycling Cuties?
Broads on Bikes! I love it, LOL! Or Tootsies on Trikes? Rosy, you always make me smile. Sure, that would be great if you want to lift my Beach Buzz thing. Whatever works for RP is good for me! I can't wait to see pics of the event-- Gee I wish I could be there. Sigh.
I'll lift Pirate's flyer, too, good idea! Hmmm. What should I link it to for people who want more info?

Rosy you do what-ever it takes to get the word out, when it comes to the kids... Jim and I will be meeting Friday to put this all together as far as prizes, entry fees (donations) and race rules... we will get the results to all that of you with websites that would like to post the info...
I think this is really cool how we can all get together and organize this event on such short notice... you're all awesome...
I sent a notice to 'mynparty@yahoo.com.mx' about the Trike Races for Charity. I don't think my hubby and I can go, but it sounds like a great cause and a lot of fun!

thanks MIRAMAR for passing on the info... it's sad that you don't think you'll be able to attend, but I'm sure we'll get plenty of coverage (photos and video) that you'll almost feel like you were there...
There is an update coming on the flyers... Seadweller asked if I could make the change to say Adopt-A-Classroom of Rocky Point. I'll update my post as soon as I get the email from my buddy.
Would somebody (I nominate Bill Hale) make sure it gets forwarded to me, since I'm going to be buried in getting the RPNO out? I thank you in advance! Jim, if you guys are meeting tomorrow...would love to talk to you anyway, and should be done with the paper by then!
Just my two cents, but maybe if he's changing the flyer, he can add the word "Cantina," as the bar's name is Camel Toe Cantina. Also, sounds less like a strip bar that way.
Oh, and the address or just a brief sentence on the bar's location. Maybe the Web site address plus a tiny map. AND, which day and what are the times this is going down? It's a three-day weekend, ya know? I know you're supposed to be on "Mexico Time," but vacationers still have plans, sunset cruises, who knows what.

Well, that and, heh...As it stands, CAMEL TOE TRICYCLE RACE sounds like, hey, chicks are going to squat in bikinis on trikes, and guess what happens next?

No. Tell me. What happens next? I might come for that.:-?:o
I think what gringozona means is that what will happen is most guys will bend over to take a peek, as drunk as they will be, they all will fall over and their arsses will stick up showing their plumers crack!! :eek3:

well if I knew it would bring in money for the kids... I'll strip... but you may want to pay me to keep my clothes on :eek3:
OK... Jim and I, along with the company of Rosie have had our meeting and here's the rules and stuff...
Race Day:Saturday Sept. 5, 2009 First Race 7:00 PM
Pre-race activities and test laps will begin at noon
There is a $10.00 entry fee for all racers... all contestants will receive a Camel Toe Cantina Can Coozie

First Prize... is a 2 night stay at Playa Inn Hotel and a Camel Toe Cantina T-Shirt
Second Prize.. Bottle of Peach Absolute Vodka and a Camel Toe Cantina T-Shirt
Third Prize... Bottle of Mickeys Tequilla and a Camel Toe Cantina T-Shirt
only one prize per racer... so you'll need your own room to passout in... if you win second or third place...
if you'll take a look at my hi-tech illustrations below they layout the track... the first oval (yes that's an oval) will be the first lap, the X is the starting point and you will run counter clockwise...
after coming out of corner 4 of the oval (passing start) you will cross into the infield and then begin to do 3 figure 8 laps as seen in the second diagram, the racer will be required to make a pitstop at the X mark before entering corner three on all 3 of the final laps...
........... ______

PitStop x ___ .___ ............(___X___)
Depending on how many people decide to participate will be the deciding factor in how many races and classes (boy, girl, young, and younger) we will have...
Any Questions? If you are planning to race please send me a private message or post it here so we can begin to get an idea of how many races and classes we will be running...
All donations of school supplies will be greatly appreciated as well...
we assembled one of the trikes Jim bought from the "HF Store" today at the Camel Toe Cantina and they are really cool... I will try to get a photo or two and post them saturday...

Mark, just wanted to let you know that I will be there with the mean, green, John Deere machine and if I win third place even better, my estimina is not as good as it used to be so I can not claim first place, but Mickeys' tequila sounds... I mean tastes goos!!! :eek3:
We might have to have the slowest race ever!!!
Don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but what about donating the trikes to the schools when the racing is done?
Thanks M y T for bringing that up... yes it has been mentioned, there is a kindergarden about 4 houses or 1 block from my house and it would make a great new home for the trikes...
also... on the other hand... if this event is a success and we are able to raise money for the schools on a regular or even annual basis and Jim agrees to storing the trikes at the Camel Toe Cantina that may be another option... I am not the owner of the trikes so the "Trike Owners Assosciation" will need to make that decission...
Hey Jim/Seadweller....How many trikes do you have? If needed, I can get one this weekend, and get it down there somehow.....still not sure if I'm coming down:cry::cry: but should know by Tuesday.

Joe if Penasco Pirate confirms his 2, Jim has 1 and *maybe another on order, and I have one on order with his (we are waiting for a reply), and Ink has the John Deer Express... if all are confirmed that gives us 6, but the more the merrier...
* Jim and I are waiting for a reply from one of his partners to see if he can pick them up.
Good question Stuart... has anyone told him about this event? Maybe he'd like to join in the fun? "When your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme."

I haven't gotten any yet. Monday will be the pick up. I am still open to picking up trikes from who ever can't make it. Please call me so we can set something up. I'm furiously fabbing on my golfcart, trying to get it finished for Labor day also. So I'm not going to town this weekend at all.
What about T-day Trike races, too? We come down every Thanksgiving, a race would be a blast then!
I'm going to talk to Manny Jr. (of Manny's fame) and get a bottle of tequila from him as a prize, too.
What do you guys like... Blanco, Reposado, Anejo and or a flavored tequila?
'Black Widow'? If it's who I think it is...we know it as 'Latigo Negro'...the Black Whip!!!
Hey Pirate....a photo of the Black Widow is posted on here...I even put it up, just don't remember which thread....
I picked up one of those Harbor Freight trikes (had a 20% off coupon)....just have to figure out if I'm coming down or not....decisions....decisions...decisions... Pirate, I'll be in touch if I need you to take it down....
If Jim is able to store the trikes, I vote for holding on to them to see if more money can be raised on some of the other holidays....Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years....

(Chicks on Trikes Day... that's a holiday in mexico guys... really)
RPJ... I agree we can hold more events and raise more $$$.
If that is the case then we should think about building some trikes that will fit adults a bit better but still keeping the trike look!!! and then donate the little trike to the kids!!!

That's a good idea as well... anyway I'm planning on trying to make this an annual event for the Adopt-A-Classroom... so what ever it takes I plan on working at it and truly appreciate all the help I've received so far...

Hey, I wonder if those Harbor Freight trikes will take a "lift kit"????
heat it, beat it, smack it and tack it... have metal will fabricate... been there done that too... I was looking at BMX frames and thinking of spreading the tail and welding on some sort of rear axle... they'd be rear wheel drive so we could pull wheelies and maybe put in some jumps and maybe some technical stuff... wait I got a couple of mountain bikes to do that with...
but seriously those BMX bikes have like 18" wheels so in the front that would be great... could use some hand truck wheels for the rear...
anybody down here with a welder and torch could do it...

I was over at my mom's in the SunCity area, and saw a couple of those adult trikes...they're crazy prices....like $450!!!! Yikes!!!
If you look how simple the HB or JD trikes are you can build those any day, just adjust the front forks, make them a little longer, for the legs and give it a "chopper" look, very easily achived and just buy the tires from HB, they have different sizes, for less than $100 you can have a custom build trike and mix parts from a BMX bike if you want a rear drive!!!
Jim/Seadweller....is this going to turn into a hurricance watch? I haven't been down there for the previous hurricanes...but has the town lost power when there were sustained high winds?
Oh yeah,
Eduardo knocked everything out for 2 days in '76 but that was 33 years ago and they have upgraded their equipment since then. I don't remember Nora knocking the power out for more than a few hours.

I used to bring a portable generator down with me "in the good old days"...particualrly during the monsoons...the power would go out when the transformers arced at night from the humidity! If I go down, I'll definitely bring it along!
Yeah,
We used to watch for the brisa to come in and then go up on the sundeck to watch the 2 transformers in Miramar blow up. When you have Pacifico, anything is entertaining!

I was realy looking forward to this. I sure hope it is so sucessful that you do another when it is cooler. Then she will be happy to be there.
To all who go, have a great time and help provide a little extra happiness for the children .
