Hi all-- This map has been floating around for a while and I've added some more restaurants to it. How many have I missed? I also want to add links to their websites if possible. Work in progress.

Also, I only know a couple of the restaurants inside the condos on Sandy Beach. Can anyone help with that? (None listed on the map yet)

Truck Boss
Can't forget Taco Brisas
SW corner of Sinaloa & Ocampo
MIRAMAR
or Blue Marlin, but thanks for putting this together
GV Jack
Where's the link to the map?
Ladyjeeper
Holy Cow Denise. You have sure put a lot of work into this
marybna
We still have the pool bar and restuarant at Bella but do not know the name. Thisis a great idea.

Azul, right? But I thought I heard that it was changing??

Very useful map. Thanks for posting it. Can someone please add La Cita and Cocina de Ramon to the map? I have read good reviews about them, but have never been able to locate either one.
MIRAMAR
Denise, Blue Marlin is right across (north) of Beach Bum- thanks!

I don't see the link either.
PintoPoint
The place holder 5 in Cholla is Pinto Point.
DeniseAck
The link didn't show up very clearly above. I made it big, blue, and underlined.
Pinto--Anything I should say about Pinto Point?
Miramar--Done
barbarella--do you know locations of La Cita and Cocina de Ramon? Anyone?

Also need locations of Fondita Cenaduria, El Pescadito, Balboas, Yummi Salad's new spot, Lucky's (in relation to BooBar), Maria's cafe (in relation to La Curva), Sushi Sun, Barrilito, Lolitas, Teriyaki Sun. Any help would be appreciated!
fasteddy
Lucky's is right next door to Boo Bar on the east side

Hi Denise. Thanks for all the work you are doing on the map and thanks to everyone for adding their input for restaurant locations. The map is looking good.

El Pescadito is on Benito Juarez near the intersection with Constitucion.

I swiped this description of the location of Cocina de Ramon from Trip Advisor's site: "The cross streets are Simon Morua and Gonzalez Bocanegra. The restaurant is off the beaten path. If you are familiar where the Ace Hardware is then head East on Simon Morua to the Flower Shop and head one block south on Gonzalez Bocanegra (which is not marked)."

I'll see if I can track down info about the location of La Cita. Seems like I saw a thread about it on here.

Barb

The thread on here says La Cita is on Cuauhtemoc, just off of Sonora. I know where Sonora is, but not Cuahutemoc. Also, found this address for it on Trip Advisor: Av. Cuauhtemoc No 48 entre Sonora y | Melchor Ocampo, Colonia Centro, Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

I think you have done a great job with this map. Needed for a long time. This will help tremendously in locating some of the more obscure locations. I did notice some discrepancies in location of Sonoran Spa and Sonoran Sea. They are next to each other. Also Puerta Privada and Sonoran Sky have iffy id.
A very good restaurant is Sonoran Grill at Sonoran Spa. It is owned and run by Max of Max's and Bryan's. Food is wonderful. They have the prime rib special on Friday for $10. Get there early. Goes fast. A very small space but so friendly and good.

Hi Denise,
Here are a couple more to add to your list.
Xochitl's (Cholla Cafe) AKA Sally's Place, in Cholla Bay. Serves a great breakfast and some good lunch options. Summer hours are Friday- Sunday from 6:00 am -2:00pm.
Also one of the best Chinese food restaurants in town is Nuevo Canzu. Located behind San Jose Clinic off Benito Juarez. Excellent food at a great price and you will always end up with extra to take home.
lagrimas85
La Oaxacana, on Simon Morua..Oaxacan banana leaf tamales are something else..
lagrimas85
There are lots of good and inexpensive, places to eat in Penasco, all of the Cenadurias around La Ley are good for antojitos, all of them started out as people opening up there homes in the evening and selling food to the people that knew about them, you would acutally eat in there dining rooms, but they have all outgrown that..Also places that sell pig innards, cow heads and carnitss are all excellent and clean, there are too many to list, but they are the kind of places, that Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern might visit..
BootNHat
All of the locals seem to go to the end of calle 18 for free parking and access to Sandy Beach. There are several small retail shops there also. It is between Penasco del Sol and Playa Bonita. Near Penasco del Sol there is a walk way down to that part of the beach too.

All of Mexico beaches are public but with a little effort we can control access to that beach and keep the riff-raff of of their own beaches.
Ladyjeeper
I second Nuevo Canzu! Yummmmaaaayyyyy.

Would anyone like to volunteer to put markers on the map? Other than the main roads and a few big side roads, I haven't got the faintest idea where to look for certain streets. And even with being on the "corner of x and x", I still wouldn't know which corner. I actually thought this map was open for collaboration already. I didn't create it, someone on here started it. I just added as much as possible to it. Everyone was so helpful on our first trip of where to go and what to see that I wanted to pay it forward. If anyone has a GPS or a smartphone and can get the coordinates of the place, I can definitely type that in to get a proper placemark.

FYI--If you want to use the map without wifi and chewing up international data, open the map while still connected to wifi to the area you want to reference, type "OK maps" in the search box, and the visible area will save for future access.

I don't think I'm quite up for innards or heads, but maybe someone else will be adventurous?
lagrimas85
That was nice of you Denise to make that map..Everything is good if it is prepped the right way, I have probably eaten at least once in every restaurant on the list and sometimes I wished I was eating pig innards, they are absolutely delishes..I dont go to often, but when I do I like it..Most of the places that sell the pork products run out by noon and go home...

This is the first time I tried to reply so I hope it works. The coordinates for Balboas are 31.307916 -113.545754. It should take you to their building. If it works I have others.

I noticed Reggie's on your list, but it was not on the actual map. Great place for take-out breakfast burritos, meat burritos, and bean burritos.

Thanks for all your work on the map. When finished, it will be very helpful for everyone.

Also not on the map, Mariscos El Conchal . Located right next to Pollo Lucas on Benito Juarez Blvd. Some of the best, if not the best, seafood in town.

I love this map. Thank you so much.
I don't see Chef Mickeys place. It's on Fremont, west of Josepha. North side of Fremont. Is he still there? There was a big sign.....Chef,,,, restaurant is at the back of the plaza. Building has other businesses in front part. In the past he has moved locations several times. I hope he is still there. He was in best chef competition. His food is really good but kind of pricey. Not Mexican food. If what you want is not on menus he will make what you want. At least in the past he would.
I'm not in RP now or I'd go check out if he is still there.

I only have Reggies 8/12 which I thought was a donut place. Is the one you refer to different?

Did I delete Reggies by mistake?

Also, I deleted the Emergency clinic on Sandy Beach by accident. Can someone replace it? Also, where is San Jose clinic? We had excellent care there for my son when he broke his collarbone and I'd like to put it on the map too. ( and hence the Nuevo Canzu behind it)

The Sandy Beach Clinic is back on the map. Reggies looks OK. I don't know about the San Jose clinic or Nuevo Canzu. It would be good to list all the clinics and emergency services but I have never had to use any so I never logged them into my Google Earth.

Spent a few minutes with that map. Not to be negative but the following are in an incorrect location :City Hall, Rocky Point Times, Happy Face. It is the Tel Mex (Land lines and Internet) main office and Tel Cel Store.

I moved the placemarker for City Hall and Happy Face to where I think they are. If you know where their exact location is just move your mouse to that location and right click. This will bring up a small menu of six or seven items. Down near the bottom of the list is a "What's here?". Highlight it and left click. This will put a green arrow on that spot and up in the upper left corner to the right of the multi colored Google will be the coordinates for that location. Copy those coordinates and paste into a reply and I will move the placemarker to that spot. Thanx.

Totally agree, awesome food especially the governor shrimp tacos, but boy-o-boy, it was so much better as the palapa as the noise level is horrendous in the new building. I hope they take some steps to change the acoustics in that place, or it's take-out only for me now.

Thanks for the help on Reggie's. One caveat though. On the map, Reggies is not located on the correct block. On the map it is located on the same street as Capone's, and Capone's is located on the map a block from where it is actually located.

Not sure who can correct this, but Reggie's should be on the NE corner of Sinaloa & 8 Va. (Heroico Colegio Militar). It is just 1 block south of Freemont and the bank. You can also put "Drunken Donuts" in the same location as Reggie's, as that is the name of the donut shop portion of Reggie's.

For Capone's, it is also incorrectly located on the map. it should be relocated on the map to the NW corner of Sinaloa & Andres' Quinten Roo. (just across from where Reggie's is incorrectly located)

Of course these aren't huge location errors, but if we can make it as accurate as possible and it is easy, no reason not to do so.

Thank you to whoever can make the changes.

I've added the city hall main, annex, pinacate condos, happy face, guau guau, senorial hotel, and revolution bar.

Now for Del Sol Hotel do you mean the Penasco Del Sol across from Max's? The coordinates point to a building that seems to be on the Navy base. And the coordinates for the RP Times seem to point to an empty lot. Also, isn't there a fire station and red cross first aid squad on Fremont?

I haven't figured out how to mark new spots on the map or get coordinates, but the address for the Fire Department is:
Departamento Bomberos
Fremont 115, Centro, 83550
Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico Phone: +52 638 383 2828.
It's the largish building just to the east of the City Hall annex on Fremont

The Red Cross address is listed as:
Blvd Fremont #140
83550 Puerto Peñasco, Sonora
+52 638 383 2266 or cruzrojapenasco@gmail.com
It's across Fremont and to the east, near Combo Taco, but I can't tell exactly which building it is from the aerial view. Hope this helps.

I was able to placemark the fire house and also the library. I remember the Cruz Roja being on the north side of Fremont but everything I see, including Google Earth, shows it on the south side opposite of Combo Taco so thats where I put it. Maybe they moved? To get the gps coordinates just scroll up to reply #41. It's real easy. To edit the placemarks you will need a Google account. There is a blue box in the upper right corner to sign in. Thanx.

This isn't an ad for T-Mobile. I have no vested interest in the company.

If you switch over to T-Mobile there are no data charges while traveling in Mexico (3G data).
Text's are free and phone call are 20 cents per minute, some calls are free in Mexico. Service in RP is very good.
I have 6 lines with 2.5GB of data on each line, it costs us $120 per month for everything. (hard to beat)
El Tiburon
How's the coverage in the US?
mondone
I've been with T-Mobile for years and haven't had any reason to switch, whether in the US or Mexico, it has been good service. In Mexico, service in Encanto is weak, but in town it's fine. I have used their Wi-Fi calling feature in Encanto, so its never been an issue for me. Last year I switched to their Simple Choice plan (brokenwave's plan above) and wow, it can't be beat. I love it. No more roaming charges, text and data all you want and calls no longer $1.80/min. Its by far the best plan for any US/RP people.

BTW, I have no vested interest in the company either.
brokenwave
In the Phx/Scottsdale/San Diego area it's pretty good, I've been with T-mobile for almost 3 years and when we first switched from
Verizon to T-Mobile it was only OK, but better than Sprint.

Over the past 18 months T-Mobile's service has gotten much better and since they have started using the 4G/LTE service it's gotten really good.
Places I couldn't get 4g (usually 2g) data in the past, now have good 4G coverage. Their LTE service is really good.

We were in Oceanside Ca. last month and we had a friend visit us who had Verizon with a IPhone5 and she had to go outside to make calls while
we had 2-3 bars of service strength while inside the condo we were renting.
flicks
Wow. That's sounds wonderful. I HAD known people that had T-Mobile in the past & the reception wasn't so hot. A lot if dropped calls. I always was able to get service in RP with my Verizon, with no problem. BUT, now when my contract is up I think we might switch.:) Thanks for the info..
brokenwave
I was with Verizon before I switched over to T-Mobile almost 3 years ago, at first the Verizon was definitely
better but TM has quickly gotten as good as Verizon in the areas I could compare.
Recently, my brother had Verizon and we would signal strength and do speed tests side by side and
I can say TM is on par with Verizon.
He just switched to TM last week and his bill went from $110 to 60 with more data.

If you switch from Verizon you will have to buy new phone Verizon is CDMA and TM is GSM.
TM doesn't subsidize phones but you can buy a lot of phones with the difference in service costs.

Or you could wait, TM and Sprint have really changed the landscape of the mobile world.
I see Verizon has adjusted their plans in order to stay competitive.
They and ATT will have to offer more things and lower prices to be competitive.
The thing I love about TM is if you use your data allotment you don't get charged more they just
slow down your data to 2G speed which is what everyone had 4 years ago until the next month.
The others just charge you extra for each GB of data you use.

Nice map, thanks.
