This might be bad news for the ecology of the sea.

Welcome back lagrimas85

I had heard that they started a colony a few years back but someone came in and destroyed the beds. Too bad I always wanted to try one.

Thought was that if China restricts more imports from the US it might put more pressure on the Sea of Cortez not only the geoduck

China has a history of raping the salmon fishery in Northern Cailf. In the 50's The Chinese fishing boats came in to federal waters off California and used fishing boats and a mother ship to take the fish from them. The government, federal and State did nothing. The fishing declined to a point where the fishing limits were set so low that even the small commercial fishermen gave up and I believe there was a period of time when there was no Salmon fishing.
I know the above to be a fact as my dad was a commercial fisherman at that time. He saw the giant mother ship less than 10 miles off shore.
I sure do hope the CONEPESCA keeps them out of the Sea of Cortez

Was in my pontoon boat at second estuary a couple of weeks back and a Ponga Hooka diver team came in with a load of goeyduck clams. I ask where they harvester them and was told off of the estuary. With my limited Spanish I did not get much more info than that.
I also had little interest as I do not like the taste of the meat. Might be what they look like!

Who the f%%% would eat that?

Apparently they taste like the best clam you could ever have. Really big in China/Japan.
Grown in the US and shipped over there.

What do you mean?:D

For those who have never seen one, with their shells on, they look like a very large penis with testicals attached.

Makes sense what with China/Japan's preoccupation with sex enhancing sea food.:eek::eek:
