Be down this next weekend afternoon of 29th - 10-3 and wonder what is going on with close in fishing. I will be using my 10 ft. pontoon. Where is best now?
Thanks

Been too damned hot to shore fish for me.

You can always catch a buzz off some beer on the shore.

Sure hope the temp is breaking. I don't care how hot it is I am going to fish!

You sound like my husband...... We continue to search for the good spot to fish from shore, but most importantly, we need to have BETTER TIMING!! It will be a RED LETTER DAY when he finally catches something he can eat....LOL

For real, you cant fish from shore. You have to go out up to you neck, to get the bigger ones. I found a better way, spear fish you can see what you want to eat.

Well I called it shore fishing but I do use my little blow up pontoon and I can go out a mile or so. Good weather may be a little further. I am going to buy a waterproof fishfinder and GPS to make it a little easier to find the close in reefs.

There small reefs are all over close in. Try a poor mans dragger. Thick wire 3 prong claw on a mid. rope, strong enough to bend the wire, when you snag on the reef. If you need a drawing let me know. I take a 2" steel pipe put 8ga min. if I cant find thicker just add more hooks, drive a wood dowel in the pipe to hold the wire so they never come out and put a loop at the top for the rope. I make one wire long so I can bend it in half put it in the pipe then bend the two sides up so they are hooks and a loop at the other side for the rope.
Hope this helps.

I have also used a bottom bouncer made from a 1 lb weight and when the bottom is hard you can feel it. Your system sure sounds a lot easier. I will make one. Thanks

I got my waterproof hand held GPS and a waterproof fish finder this weekend. If anyone has some waypoints off of PDO I would sure like to have a couple. A mile or so out max. Will make it a lot easier than trying to find them.

I was down off of Las Conchas this past weekend with a kayak and a fish finder. Caught a bunch of sea bass and triggers with squid. Only went out about 100 yds from shore found the larger rocks and fished off the edges of them. Lots and Lots of fun. Everyone caught fish. Guys shore fishing would throw me their line and I would take it out for them.

Can you describe where they are?
