We ate there twice during our recent visit (4/29 through 5/10) and loved it. The carne asada tacos are huge, delicious and only $1.40 each! I had a very different but oh, so good chile rellano...large enough for two to share...$5.00. Brisas is on the corner of Sinaloa and Ocampo. Try it, you'll like it!
Try the Sonoran style papas next time. Only get one for 2 people, tho. They are HUGE! And Yummy! They cost 7 bucks but are well worth it! And it makes 2 meals. I can't wait for Memorial Day!
Sounds good, I'll try next time down. BTW, anyone know the hours of operation for La Carreta taco place. I'm dying to try them, but everytime I go there they are closed.

Are you getting there too early or too late?
Post pictures of FOOD and LOCATION everyone, PLEASE!
posting this on this "Tacos Brisas" thread as I just posted on the La Cita thread and didn't realize it until afterward. Makes more sense to be here:
"Don't forget the fresh green chile strips on this dish as well!
This is definitely one of the best meals for just 'pure grub' in all of Rocky Point. By the way, at Tacos Brisas, the owner (Gama) calls this dish "Papas Rellenos". It is $7 as stated prior, yet it is probably the equivalent of 4-5 tacos in carne alone. It is huge. Then all the fixins' and tortillas they give you with this makes it a great deal. As ladyjeeper said, can be split by 2 or can make a couple meals for 1 person. Another great choice at Tacos Brisas are the "Caramello Tacos". Generous carne asada taco with that 'gooey' and flavorful white cheese. Good, good stuff..."
Yes, but is there an election this year on the 4th?? Those Tacos need beer to go with. Where was Tacos Brisas again and what's a Cubanita, some kind of drink ? Is that a map of Tucson ?
I couldn't resist and went to Brissa tonight. Muy bien! it's now a saved favorite location on my garmin gps! The Papas Relleno is everything that's raved about.

Hey Roberto....do they have a drive thru or takeout window???
Try Combo Taco on Fremont between the 'Shrimp Park' and the Cruz Roja. It looks like a bandstand. Great shrimp tacos!!! and very reasonable. Good place for lunch.
Combo Taco is the only place in Penasco that I have ever gotten sick after eating there... And it wasn't just me it was the whole group who was feeling ill.
I do not mind combo taco however I did got sick too last summer and since they have their sauces out and many people leave them out of the ice tray they go bad, during the cold month it is a great deal for your money!
We split a papa this last weekend at Tacos Brisas. Jerry had never had one before and he loved it. It was really good! We tried their tacos and charro beans this time and they are really good, too! Jerry said Yum, I wanna go back there! LOL! We will...
Oh, my hubs loves chile rellano - but I can not find the place on my map... We will see if drive by it once there this weekend. Thank you! Doe anyon have or knows of a good map or a link to restaurant locations in RP?? It would make it so much eisier... but I have not been able to locate one...

Both of the local tourist papers, the RP Times and Join Us have decent city maps inside. The publications are pretty well distributed around town and you can pjick up a copy of either at Twin Dolphins Real Estate on Fremont if you can't find a copy.

Word on the street is that the tacos are now small and more expensive. They still have a pretty constant flow of people though.

It used to be called Fullenios, I got sick the 2nd time I ate there, matter of fact I used your restroom, since you are almost next door, for that i was grateful. The new name fits it perfect Combo Taco. Part Nutritious fish and vegetables and part fast acting laxative.
:woo::woo::woo::woo::woo::woo::woo:
:woo::woo::woo::woo: playaperro: Personally I would only eat Chile, red, green, whatever in a nice A/C place, during the summer months.
Agreed! I have never been as sick as I was after eating in Rocky Point during fly season and they are persistent buggers, case in point is the little one on the table, no telling how many before him enjoyed a taste.

LOL, I went to Bryan's Friday night for the prime rib special and I had more flys on the table in there than at Brissa. So much for that theory. Prime rib was excellent, didn't phase me as all!
We ate there on Friday for the first time, only a few flies. Asado tacos were great, loved the smokey flavor from the coals they use.
I really like how you get your own platter of toppings (kept in a refridgerator).
Priced right at $1.25 per taco. (JJ's tacos are now on the not list for the ok quality and high prices $2.75)
Will try the Papa next trip.
And as we left Taco Brisa's we found our SUV had been hand washed with water and soap, (usually don't like window washers doing my cars without permission).
Gave each of them $1 (all we had were 200 peso notes) they were very happy and did a decent job so we were happy.
Stopped by Tacos Brisas on Saturday. Great recommendations on the papa as well as the tacos caramello. The food was exactly what we needed after being at the beach all day. I didn't realize that they don't serve beer, but the staff didn't mind us buying a few across the street and bringing them in. I think I've found a new favorite spot. Thanks all...
i killed a papa relleno on tuesday night. Was so good. The red hot sauce was SUPER hot! the carne asada there is great, no fat just meat. Wife loved it and she isnt a fan of carne asada due to the fat content normally. Ill be back!
We went there this last semana santa and I must say the service was the worst ever, none of the original servers were there, all new and very rude and the food left a lot to be desire, seems like the beef quality went down the drain, nothing but griddle and fat and the meat was cold, colder than the coke I drunk, I will give them another try just for our past experiences with them and the place was full, no reason for the meat to be cold!!!
I haven't been to Tacos Brisas in a while and we thought it was pretty good but last year on several people's recommendation we tried Tacos Poblanos and found it much better. Maybe time for another throw down between the two.
I've seen this map before and it would probably be extremely useful except that I have never been able to get it to work right. If I try to zoom in using the + button in the lower right-hand corner, all of the places-of-interest icons disappear and the map remains in its original scale. And, if I click on, say, Tacos Brisas in the list, it's icon does light up but the pop-up window has no info other than the name of the restaurant. Not sure why I have so much trouble with this map as it looks like a great resource. Until I get it figured out, if I ever do, can anyone give me a location for Tacos Brisas?

Just keep hitting the mouse outside of town till the streets come into view then click on the place you are looking for and it will light up, don't click on any markers, just make the map bigger, not very good at giving directions

At the 4 way stop on Fremont where Pemex and the bank is go North until you come to another 4 way stop with an Oxxo on your right. Brisas will be on your left across from the Oxxo.
Try Chuys much better no grilse in meat and always HOT
We've been to Chuey's a lot since we moved here. Our landlords love it and find all kinds of reasons to go and take us with them. The meat at Chuey's definitely first-rate. No fat or gristle ever. Not much variety, strictly carne asada, but they do carne asada really well.
WE have not been down for a year. And things change. Tacos Brissa or Viva Mexico? I remember both of them but it has been awhile. Both were really clean. My husband went thru chemo early this year, so his dr just rolls his eyes when we talk about going down. Or maybe there is some place I do not know about. Suggestions?
