Wonder if that would affect RP any or should we expect more security around?

The new commie AZ Guv ordered the shipping containers removed from the Algodones BC line today. We are being stormed this very minute by many thousands of foreign criminals. There are several whirly birds following them down the streets here in my hood as well as many LEO vehicles with si-reens blaring.

As a matter of fact Jerry I do have some "Nic" blood flowing in my veins.

The invasion is still going on at this very moment. There are three egg-beaters in the dark sky here in my hood with FLIR tagging and sparkling them.

There are Border Patrol, DPS, Yuma County Sheriff and Yuma cops hauling ass up and down every street. We just got back from picking up a pizza and saw probably a hundred of the foreign fighters running in groups down the main drag.

This is an invasion as plain and simple as could ever be and our leader is in charge of it all. This former USA is done for.

In Cholla bay many people are reporting the 2023 property taxes increased from the avg in 2022 of $150 to over $1,100 for this year.

The Cholla HOA is advising people to hold off paying until this gets clarified. It was mentioned that if you already
paid the 2023 taxes it would be impossible to get a refund if they went down should the city lower them.

On FB, I posted about the increase and all the replies have said basically a 8-10X increase.
Areas reporting include Las Conchas, the Sandy Beach condos and Encanto.

I asked a local friend to look at his 2023 taxes to find out if this is a Gringo event or all over Penasco increase.

A person on FB posted the city is having a meeting today about the increase.

Apparently it was passed by the congress of the state of Sonora to tax at a higher rate supposedly so the tourists areas are hit the hardest.
I guess the discount of paying your property taxes early will help a little.

City of Puerto Penasco should be raising taxes to the homeowners using their homes as an income source.

There was a policeman at the guard house there three weeks ago. Friendly and just waved us through.

That was the last time we will ever go to JJ's Cantina. There we fifteen or twenty "employees" in black t-shirts giving us and three other gringo customers non-stop shit. Some were so-called "security" types and the others so-called "waiters". They kept their stink eye on us like we were some kind of criminal perps. We didn't even buy a beer before I told the wife "lets get the F**K outta here".

What I really miss is the condiment bar covered with black shit eater flies and the plastic scooper spoons that hadn't been switched out for days.

The fish tacos were great there as long as you didn't slather on the green and red sauce. Always a good work out eat as you had to constantly wave off the moscas that had just dined on fish guts and gaviota excrement.

Gone are the days!

The Bears finished the season at 3 and 14 after after an ass kicking from the up and down Vikings a 1st round draft pick “The Chicago Bears are concluding one of the most surreal weekends in living memory. Nobody was surprised when they lost to the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field. Most of their starting lineup was out with injuries. It was a foregone conclusion to most. A loss would secure the Bears the #2 overall pick in the 2023 draft. People wanted to see whether the Houston Texans would defy the laws of tanking and go for the win over the Indianapolis Colts. Doing so would hand the #1 overall pick to the Bears. In a wild finish, Houston stunned Indy 32-31 in the final seconds for the win. Chicago suddenly holds the draft’s top prize for the first time since 1947.

Yep, JJ's is different, in some areas, much needed improvements, also in many ways over done.
They figure they make more $$ from selling fewer $14 food items than many $3-5 ones

Did anyone hear about the white shark attack? happened the other day to 3 scuba divers.
Read it on Penasco Digital.
Idyllwild
White shark attacks in southern Sonora have now returned, resulting in the death of three fisher divers in Peñasco.

The events occurred in Peñasco, Yavaros and Paredón Colorado, for which the scientists Mauricio Hoyos and Omar Santana gave a virtual talk to those who daily risk their lives diving on the seabed.

The experts from the organizations Pelagios Kakunjá and Ecología Cielo, Mar y Tierra, highlighted that the months with the greatest presence of this species are December and January, since pregnant females enter in search of breeding areas.

On the other hand, Omar Santana included that the apparitions can be caused in the same way by the atypical movements of their food, which are the sea lions that could be getting closer to the coast of Sonora.

Thanks for the translation Idyl.......

Still does not make much sense. I have never read anything that mentions female Great Whites breeding in the Sea of Cortez nor anything about Sea Lions getting closer to the coast of Sonora as in that is exactly where they have always been found.

The attack occurred on Jan. 5 in the waters off the coast of San Jose Beach in Mexico's Tobari Bay, according to a report.
The victim, identified as Manuel Lopez, was diving when "the animal attacked him, ripping off his head and biting both shoulders," Jose Bernal, a fisherman who witnessed the attack, said.
Witnesses to the scene said Lopez was diving for ax tripe, a species of mollusk similar to scallops, and had been diving to depths of 59 feet without an air tank, according to the report.

In the first deadly shark attack of 2023, Manuel López was scuba diving off San José beach in Tobari Bay on the west coast of Mexico when the shark attacked him on January 5.

López, a man in his 50s, had his head severed from his body by the 19-foot (5.7-meter) shark.

Fisherman José Bernal told Tracking Sharks that López "was diving when the animal attacked him, tore off his head and bit both of his shoulders."

Lopez had been diving to a depth of about 18 meters (59 feet) to collect scallop calluses, a scallop-like mollusk, on the ocean floor when the shark attacked.

Sort of pro shark on this one. These guys just strip the sea of shellfish etc . More great whites at Lobos and the island means less seal Yellow tail theft too..

Are you referring to the clam diver that got hit between the Islas and the mainland to the East?
A scuba diver is dead after he was attacked by what is believed to have been a shark in the waters off Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, on Tuesday. Nahum Verdugo, 37, had gone fishing with friends in an area known as Haway, 10 kilometers southeast of Isla San Jorge.Dec 20, 2018

This was a recreational diver in 2020 to the best of my recollection. But we don’t have journalism or even social media of the same standard as in the US, so who knows. I probably saw it on Rocky Point 360.

A couple observations:
  • Tobari Bay is nowhere near our neck of the sea.
  • the diver WAS using compressed air – pumped through a tube from the surface.

Conclusion: Our area is not being invaded by dangerous sharks

They indeed do. Hooked up on one myself several years ago. We were fishing out of a panga at the time. One of the reasons (besides aggressive sea lions) to stay in the boat at the island.
ernesto
So this incident was 6 miles southeast of Isla San Jorge, Not even close. I used to dive at the island with the Lobos once in awhile. Lars was usually the divemaster, sometimes Rupert. In their years of diving there, never saw a shark, Lars did tell me of a huge great white hauled in to La Pinta by a panga that was caught in the deep water south of the island. I saw a juvenile hammerhead swimming the surface off Las Conchas when I was Hobie sailing there last year. It was about 2 feet long, kinda surprised me tho. I have never heard of an attack near Penasco by swimmers.
Jungle Jim
"HAWEY 6.2 miles SE of the island" That would be the panguero fish camp at Punta Jaguey north of Santo Thomas. The waters from the beach at the campo are wide shallow shoals of shells all the way out to Isla San Jorge. The area is now being stripped bare of the hairy oysters that the locals are selling as "callo" which means "scallop" in Gringo. I've tried every way possible to cook them in a manner to make them edible. Nothing short of mincing them into tiny fragments will work, even then its like chewing away on a chunk of old rubber inner tube that you end up swallowing for no nutritional gain whatsoever.

The sick and dying California Sea Lions that haul out and breed on the island which by the way are not seals at all end up on the beach there and many have massive wounds from some type of large sharks. We see them regularly washed up on that beach. There are dolphins and porpoises with bite wounds as well. Great Whites target marine mammals with thick layers of fat as in Sea Lions and often times just take one huge bite then leave the wounded animal to die.

I have seen two huge Great Whites at El Golfo that were tangled up in gill nets then brought to shore by the pangueros. That was back in the 70's.

They were without a doubt man eaters.

Reminds me of the time the Humbolt squid ate all those guys in the over loaded panga …
Jungle Jim
Never heard about "all those guys" that got eaten by the squid.

Anyway for years there were two Great White Shark jaws on display in El Golfo. One was on a ranch gateway on the north end of town, the other on the gateway at the "T" in the road to PP. Both were big enough to swallow a normal sized human. Years ago there was an enormous Black Marlin wired to a barbed wire fence at the north end that was at least fifteen feet long.

There used to be a guy at Rodeo Drive that sold shark jaws and teeth who had a set on the wall that was almost two feet wide. He claimed that it came from PP.

My wife found a Megladon tooth on a little dry lake bed up in the hills west of Bahia San Fransisquito BC a few years back.

I'm not sure why they show Consag #1 close to shore as its about 22 miles further offshore.. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Location-of-sea-lion-rookeries-on-the-Gulf-of-California-Mexico-Rookeries-1-R_fig1_242466253 But that explains Great Whites near El Golfo.. I fished around the rock in August one year for fairly big Sierra.. a clip of some people catching Sierra at Consag
