You are supposed to wear masks when driving with 2 or more people in a car. (this rule is still valid, but many ignore it)
We always wear them driving thru Sonoyta and when in Penasco, otherwise you're looking to get pulled over for a
payout to the officer, my son was pulled over in Sept. in Sonoyta for no mask and cost him $60 because they
bullied him into paying them.
A mask is required entering stores and many restaurants, in restaurants masks can be removed when seated.
Some places are getting lax about masks.
There might be some places requiring a mask outdoors I'm not aware of, but keep one in your pocket/purse.
You don't need to have proof of a Covid vaccination or test if you're a US citizen/resident,
either in Mexico or re-entering the US, but that can change at anytime.
In the Sonotya area drive the speed limit 40KPH (24MPH), stop at stop signs for 3-5 seconds.
Really pay attention to the speed limit sign's otherwise it will cost you $20-160, officer will try to make you pay him.
If you get stopped either pay at the city station, it's 1,100 pesos last I heard, or see if the officer will take $40.
I always travel thru Sonoyta with $20-40 in my travel wallet and no credit/debit card in it, same for other riders with you.
We pay for most things using Pesos we get at a Citi Banamex ATM in Sam's club, or next door in the Bodega, or in Super Ley.
The exchange rate from them is around 20.5 - 1, many places will only give you 17/18 -1, anything less than 20 pay in pesos
over 20-1 use dollars. Doing that You save 10-15% on almost everything.
Using a CC have them bill it in Pesos, if you can use a credit/debit card without foreign transaction fees.

Yes I'm aware, the Omnicron is more mild for Vaxxed people but still a problem, in time maybe a Big Problem.
For Penasco, 21 people in a day is huge because they lack the medical facilities to handle more than 10 serious cases.
It was reported that Penasco has 5 ventilators and 5-10 ICU beds total.
Many of the people living in Penasco who were given the J&J or Astrazeneca vaccine which are less effective than
the Moderna or the Pfizer shots. Booster shots are not widely available yet info from my Local friend.
I read Penasco was approx 70% vaccinated.
The ICU hospitalizations from this latest round are nearing the max in the US from what we saw last year and we still have

Several of our neighbors were diagnosed with Covid following a mostly outdoor event on Christmas Day. One was hospitalized in Phoenix due to a compromised immune system. But there was also a bad cold with severe cough circulating. People getting it have tested negative for Covid and have a bad cough (but nothing else) that lasts up to two weeks.

The way I look at wearing a mask is it can't hurt, 100% effective, probably not.
I'll use a scenario about, if you had to run a field where people are shooting bullets across or burn to death from the fire at your back.
If you were offered the chance to wear body armor, what would you do? Most people would run.
I'd wear the body armor and run like heck. So wearing a good mask like a N95 and practicing good hygiene is my body armor.

I am glad you are recovering . 7 dead in my county yesterday.They all were not vaccinated .
Sadly this isn't going away anytime soon. Some people it won't affect too bad and then there's the group who will get their butt kicked by it. My friend tested positive had the J&J shot and a booster has been in bed almost a week with fever. Where he works 90% of his co-workers have now had Covid.
We're still staying home pretty much - the necessary trips to store have us wearing our N95's. Forgot to mention Teri had a few nites of night sweats, without a fever tho. Those first 10 days or more had us napping quite a bit - but appetite, smell and taste all fine. We're close to being out of it - we have a cooler of beer left over from before Christmas, I keep draining the cold water, and adding a new 20# bag of ice - hoping to drink them this weekend watching football. I took one of my kids to the doctor and they would not prescribe any meds. Told me to make hot tea and honey for cough (which was not bad more of a tickle) and drink plenty of OJ and if a fever happens take Tylenol to bring it down (two had fever first day everyone else no fever). Don't believe the hype you see on tv.

her boyfriend had a high fever and symptoms like the worse flu or Pneumonia he ever had.
They both had the booster vaccine.
Our gym buddies in their late 20's, both had high fevers and bad flu symptoms for almost 1 week.
With the Beta and Delta strain, I know 4 people who died from it.

Vaccinations are well documented to reduce symptoms and the likelihood of hospitalization. My ER Doc nurse says 95% of the people in her hospital with Covid and in the ICU have never been vaccinated. They may have underlying conditions but without Covid they would not be in the hospital either. So I guess, for me, If I had underlying conditions there is 100% likelihood that I would be vaxxed. Also, I just don’t like to be sick, miss work or fun so vaccinations are my route. One more thing: try traveling to a country with a history of diseases we in the Western world are not exposed to. When I went to Africa-way before Covid, the vaccine routine to be allowed in to the country was strict & rigorous. We were required to receive about 6 new vaccinations, carry our proof with us at all times, not allowed entry or exit into any country without proof of vaccinations and even denied some public transportation and venues if you could not produce your proof of vaccines. This was all pre-Covid in third world countries who have had to deal with diseases for a long time, now with Covid the rules are much tighter. This is just an interesting insight in to how for many years different countries with more pandemic experience have learned to deal with disease. We were very surprised at the seriousness of it all so when the Covid vaccines became available here they were to us routine, no big deal, made sense and if the vaccines grant me an additional one day on the beach then they work for me. To each his own but adhering to political dogma over science is something one might consider seeing a shrink for and makes me think the third world countries I visited have a much smarter and aware populace.

He has four daughters at home. He was vaxxed, no booster and no one else in the family vaxxed or unvaxxed got the virus. It is serious business and deathly for some, just a sniffle for others.
