Border closing news-asking for update?

There is more talk of the border closing. Can someone provide an update?

Same as the non essential travel ban the US started in March, Mexico isn't stopping anyone from entering.
Penasco is open without major major restrictions as of now. Only a few US border agents have harassed people
about non essential travel to Penasco.
The Non Bike rally was last weekend, saw a 50% drop in people from last year. Bikers still came down.
Penasco added wearing masks in cars and reduced hours in many places, curfew is now 11PM-6AM.

People from the US are still going down, Covid cases are increasing in Penasco currently like many places.
A local friend got Covid at his daughters wedding 10 days ago, out of 40 guests, 10 now have it.

So mask up, stay socially distanced from people, wash up and enjoy Penasco.

Hopefully things will lighten up by mid March 2021 when I plan on coming down.

Covid-19 is running the show for now.
Still a good experience in RP, they are just doing more things to screen sick people and keep them away from others.
Wish more was done here in the US.

Planning to come down for a trip next week, any learnings on the border crossing beyond what brokenwave provided?

We’ve been coming and going at will, through Lukeville but also San Luis and even Mexical/Calexico.

Was down there Dec22nd, no issues either way. One lane open coming back to US but the line was barely 3 cars.

Just heard the border suppose to reopen Jan 21st. which is the end of the p[resent restriction window.
They US and MX may extend restriutions at that time.
How is the people of Puerto Penasco doing?

All must be hurting without tourism.

There's still lots of people coming down now. Just a little slow because of the holiday season. Border restrictions don't apply to Peñasco currently, it's tourism is considered essential so no restrictions on US citizens. Mexicans can't travel north for vacations and other restrictions.
