Barb and I just returned from the Mirador and surveying the damage if any...
Bill "WoodSpinner" we went by and all is intact
RPJoe... your tire cover was half way off so it is back on now...
Chuck "azbeachboy" you have a little sand on your patio no damage...
Chari "LadyJeeper" your A\C cover has blown off, and your flexable sewage drain tube is torn in half and you will need to replace the flexable part of it...
Edwardo "Inks" your stairway to heaven is still intact.. must be because of the great construction...
I have photos of all your places and if you want to see them send an email to SeaMail@Sharksville.com and I will get them out to you...
If anyone else has a property that you would like for me to take a look at and assess any damages you can send an email with your phone number and I will give you a call to get directions to your place and check them out....
OK you're probably thinking what's the catch what do I want in return? We just want you to come back down to Rocky Point soon...
Thanks to all who had inquired about our well-being... everything is fine with us we only had a little water that was being blown under our front door and my dog Boo pretty much licked that all up...
Glad to hear that my friends, and my friends places are OK, but what about the area as a whole? Did they really receive damage at the Pigeoncoup's, or was someone just wishfully thinking? If they did, that's just another negative on top of what's already been happening.
You know what Kenny, I have a pigeon coop. Should I just not worry about my place? This is why I have had a hard time on this site. Is this site only allowed for people who have been there since forever?
Not all of us condo owners are elitists, nasty people. Ugh. We have a right to post too.

I have friends that live down there in nice joint's, and I don't think they are elitist, and I've never said condo owner were. So don't get all weird on me when I joke around. I've never said, nor did I hope for anyone to have damage down there because of this storm. Yes, the condo's too.
There has been some real jerks on this forum in the past who were not your average condo owner, but investor's who are nothing like you, and I'm sure your very nice family. Yes, I've bumped heads with some of those high roller types. Heck, the reason I sleep under trailers instead of inside them is because then I won't be trailer trash..just trash.
That was not my wishful thinking, and I'm insulted that you thought it might be.
huge waves and up to 70 mph wind gusts at Santo Tomas. They had spent two days removing sand from the road to the house under construction on lot 105 and in one day the storm put it all back.I always tell people when you are right on the beach it has it's downsides.
waterkids....he was just kidding......the real estate hucksters that overbuilt, under planned and screwed everything up are the only villians in this story.
I wasn't kidding about anything, I just used the term "Pigeoncoup's" instead of condominium's. It was a serious question about the damage that was reported fleetingly, then nothing else was said about it.
I hope, and now I'll assume that you didn't waterkids, good.

Hey Waterkids, I'll let Kenny answer for himself, but you aren't the only cooper here. Thank you for posting. There is a bit of reverse-snobbery in here sometimes, and sometimes even reverse slobbery. I still happen to think most coopers aren't all that snobby (or slobby).
waterkids.... Back in the day the "wild boy's" used to stay at Sandy beach. The group that my dad knew worked at Hugh's aircraft in Cali with him, and that's how he found out about it, and Cholla bay. They were all Vets, either the second world war, or like my uncle Teddy, Korea. I don't know what the law was then, but they were packin. That's where I learned about "NO FEAR". There also was a small nudist colony up the hill that I ran into when I was about 10 or 11, and it freaked me out.
We, my family stayed in what was then the equivalent LOL of pigeoncoups, at least to the natives, and our friends who roughed camped at Sandy beach. Natcho had a small store in Cholla and he rented out some "Hut's" there, and I loved them. I liked Lizards and bugs, and heck, they were both on the ceiling. It's also where I learned to shake out my shoe's in the morning, in case a Scorpion or two bedded down in them. But to the natives who had fished and camped out of Cholla bay for centuries, we were intruder's who had ended their way of life. There actually were still some Indians who fished out of there at that time with small wooden boats with eggbeater engine's.
I went back to the coast of Cali in 63, then up into the Pacific Northwest in 74. When I came back to Cholla and Sandy beach they had real houses in Cholla, and Sandy beach had been paved for RV's and trailer's. Another group thought they "were intruder's who had ended their way of life." and so it goes.
Glad to hear that my friends, and my friends places are OK, but what about the area as a whole? Did they really receive damage at the Pigeoncoup's, or was someone just wishfully thinking? If they did, that's just another negative on top of what's already been happening.
Heard from a "cooper" friend....his place was ok, but he indicated that there were condos with windows blown out and ceilings dropping due to rain getting it....he didn't get into which resorts or how many....also the roads were a mess.
So sorry Kenny. If I had known all your history I would have never bought our coop. I am so sorry.. We bought 5 years ago. What should I do now? Geezzzzzzzzzzz. Do you own it now?

Ole skenny is attempting to get his band of "Old School Rocky Point Loyalists" gathered back up!!
Him and his band of marry men hate us Condo owners and think we contributed to degridation of the common folk quality of life through irresponsible growth.
Over the years, Skenny, Chappy , Cherry and others have promoted hate toward those that dont subscribe to their ideoligy (old school rocky point).
Chappy (Happy) has been granted asylum once agin (he has been banned 10 -15 times) for the sake of who knows what (ratings) .
I will most likely get banned for life for sharing the truth.

You didn't get my story, "and so it goes" is the reality of change, and how it's looked at by each generation, or group of people differently. You had no more to do with that change at Sandy beach, than I did as kid living in hut's in Cholla bay on what was once the fishing grounds and camps of native Americans.
"Do I own it now".. are you being a smart ass, or is it me? Nope, it's not me..no wonder we clash!!
Oh boy, I've alway's wanted that "common folk quality of life" Brad. Do you think I've found it yet?... Find one post on here where I attacked you for owning a condo, or shut up!

Brad....I don't know you...but obviously you have been a lurker on this forum (on here about 6 months with only 19 posts).....you seem to know a lot about some of the individuals (characters???) that post regularly (maybe from the old Forum??)....but you also seem to have a lack of reading comprehension.
I doubt Kenny hates condo owners (I won't even attempt to talk for Happy!!)....I don't.... but I do dislike what has happened to Penasco as a result of the condos (note...I said condos...not condo owners.....even though the madness of building more and more condos has closed many of the rv parks) BTW....I proudly wear my Penasco Trailer Trash t-shirt!!!! But that is a function of change....most people dislike change....and I have seen Penasco change drastically since I started coming down, and IMHO, not for the better.
I finally saw Avatar last week at the IMAX on Baseline road . Boy was it great on the 6 story high screen! It sort of reminded me of the Rocky Point situation. The simple trailer people(picture them as the big blue people) live on the beach in harmony with nature, racing beatup dune buggies to the beer store, fishing, breaking Wonder bread with their neighbors, reading the "left behind" series and not doing too much lasting damage to the land. Then the Sky People come.Large earth moving machines, backed by men with guns telling the people they must move the old Winabago(paid for!) so a family of nine from mesa can be sold a overpriced, badly built faulty tower they financed against their over valued house in the states. The Sky peole block the peoples view of the sun god(or JJay's) as they l lay on the beach. So the people fight back with their only weapon available (since you can't bring dynamite into Mexico)...words

I'm with you, although I don't have my own condo, I will sooner or later (when the violence calms down)

 You're firing on all cylinders this morning, Jerry! :notworthy:
That makes my post back to him look like I was pulling words out of my butt that were not said?
Everyone can edit, but just for a few minutes after the post, and a individual certainly can't edit someone else's post. Again, I've never disliked or have said I've disliked someone because they own a condo. That's just not true, and frankly just plan silly. The only time I've said anything remotely unkind to you was when you waded into the political stuff, and that certainly had nothing to do with you living in a condo.
Change the word "pigeoncoup" to Condominium in my first post on this thread, then tell me how I slandered you, or anyone else in my question about the possible damage done.

Kenny, I won't get into semantics with you. You did use the word "elitist" on your post that you edited though. Of course that is lost in cyber space now. I know what it said originally though.
ETA: Oh yeah I can see now. You back tracked considerably!! You also took out the words that offended me. Good work.
P.S. I will "wade" into political things if I have something to say BTW.
Kenny, I won't get into semantics with you. You did use the word "elitist" on your post that you edited though. Of course that is lost in cyber space now. I know what it said originally though.
I'll refrain from calling you a liar, only because you must only be mistaken. I can without a doubt say I never called you or anyone else a elitist on this thread, but it does read a bell. I'll look back and see if it's in someone else's post because you are wrong, I never used that word.
Yeah, I am delusional. You said it and edited your post. Good luck on pinning it on anyone else. I WOULD not have responded to you if someone else said it.
The only time I can find where the word elitist was used, it was used was by you in your reply to my first post,"Not all of us condo owners are elitists, nasty people. Ugh. We have a right to post too."... I don't know what your problem is, but I don't drink. If you are saying I edited out that I said the pigeoncoup owners were elitist in my first post, and that I was saying negative things about condo owners in it, and that I deserved that weird ass response from you..well you are a liar, or worse. You can believe or manufacture anything you want, I'm tired of trying to be reasonable with a obviously unseasonable person, and I don't care where you live!
If you look at my first post it was edited only once at 9:01, 3 minutes after it was original posted. You did not reply to it till 9:22, so how in the hell did I take the offending word (elitist) out of it for you?
Okay Kenny, I am an "obviously unseasonable person" ( not enough salt or am I a winter/summer?). I do not lie and I do not manufacture anything. I have seen many crazy ass posts from you on this forum.
I don't care where you live either. You get by with so much here that it is unbelievable. YOU said it. It is gone.

In case you don't look up, and yes I have.

BTW I just edited a post I wrote this morning. Nice argument though Kenny.
You can't change the fact that I only edited that post once, 3 minutes after it was originally posted and over 20 minutes before your your response, no matter how many post's you change... The fact that you just changed something has nothing to do with it, now does it?
I'll go back to saying you were mistaken if you like, but you owe me a apology... I only asked that question to try and get some further information about the possible damage done at the pigeoncoups , and that's how it reads, and that's how it's always read. I had no reason to spruce it up for you or anyone else, and if you look at the time lapse between that edit, and your post, only a fool could say otherwise.
I have a word on the tip of my tongue for you, but it's not, "elitist"... It's not the times that are messed up lady, it's not the time's.... Fine, I don't need a apology from you, and I don't much care if you are a "fan" of mine or what. Actually I don't recall asking you to be a friend on face book, or addressing you in any way, even indirectly for many many months on this forum. Before you let your imagination, or whatever it was take possession over you after reading the word "pigeoncoup" again, I'd suggest you stop, take a deep breath, and read the whole text before jumping to conclusions, putting words in mouths, and looking foolish again.
Kenny , I also have a word at the tip of my tongue. Just for you:) I also suggest you take a deep breath and back up. I have no desire to be your friend, on Facebook or whatever. I would never want to know you.
As anyone can see I made a punctuation edit, or did something trying to make it read better directly after my inquiry about the condos. All in all it took 3 minutes, it was 9:01PM... waterkids responded to what you see there right now at 9:22PM...There would be another edit after 9:22 if I had changed it in any way after her post. There is not!... I had never said anything about condo owner's being elitist or nasty people in that post or at any time, simply because that's not true. Why would I say that, when I don't believe it? I never mentioned that she, or anyone else that has a condo that they shouldn't worry about it, so I have no idea why she said "Should I just not worry about my place?". I did say "was someone just wishfully thinking?" when I was inquiring about if there really was damage, because some people do actually think that way.... I do remember waterkids getting mad at some of us during that political nonsense, but that was almost a ago, so I have no idea.
Yes, there are a few people on here that I have a dislike for, and it's mutual, but it's certainly has nothing to do with where they stay, or how much, or little money they have. That's why I'm postingthis.I do not, I repeat, I do not have anything against anyone who has a condo. How could I fault someone for falling in love with the Sea Of Cortez, and wanting to have a place to look over it's splendor, and enjoy it's warm water and lovely beaches? Some of us do have a problem with how it was developed though, and that includes some people who own them.
I share past experiences talking about how it used to be at Chollo Bay, Sandy Beach, or Rocky point in hope that we can still save what we still have now, and that I say it in a way that some of you might just find it interesting, for lack of a better word.
I wanted to thank Kenny and Waterkids for two pages of petty bickering under the thread of info on possible damage from the storm !!! Now does anyone have any updated info on road conditions ? We are comming down Sunday to check out our little Love Shack out at the Reef. Thanks
I miss Dryheat. now their was a proud elitist. He would stab you in the eye with a caviar spoon and stomp on you with his trademark leather driving shoes with little tassels on them.
On storm repair issues always use the high grade roof coatings and a 2 part epoxy on the parapets. re-coating now and then with a penetrating sealer on masonry walls is a good practice to follow
There were a couple of bad sections of highway between Penasco and Sonoita and they are not all marked... Harold Tuttle aka "trade" told me that a couple of spots snuck up on him and his pick-up went airborn...
You will want to drive it a bit slower than usual...
Dryheat and the other condo owners are starting to find their way back. Remember when you guys blamed the long lines at the boarder on the condo owners and launched the "Pigeon Coupers Turn Left" champaign, thats when most of the condo owners said enough is enough and quit participating in the forum. Looking back that was a direct attack on certain members and if I recall Kenny was the ring leader, maybe it was Happy.
Brad the condo owners were not the problem. The developers knew this was a problem (among many problems they also hid) and still rushed ahead. You guys cheer led the whole bubble so your values would go up.The result was over building and a market freefall
Jerry - Anymore it seems people are quick to blame the developer / builder for any negative impact caused by development, it should fall back to what ever governmental entity approved the development. I agree development should mitigate the impact it has on services. In the states those impacts are taken care of through passing on certain obligations to the developer and generating revenue through impact fees, taxes, user fees and so on. These fees are then used to take care of ongoing maintenance, system upgrades ........ If the Mexican government would impose obligations and establish a fee base on the developers that mitigate the service issues then these issues would be dealt with, they don't. Other then city taxes and a trust fee I pay nothing to the Mexican government for owning my condo, in America I'm taxed to death but have services that support my way life.
We got off topic a bit. The issue at hand is do certain members of this board blame condo owners for irresponsible development and having an effect on their "old school rocky point lifestyle", the answer is a resounding hell yes.

Well we do like to kid you guys but the Realtor community is the real target for chop busting.

Dryheat is all about speculation on his holdings, nothing more. I don't consider him a condo owner who enjoys PP for what it is, just a investor.
Brad, I didn't know you owned a pidgeoncoup, actually I guess I still don't. All I know is you showed up trying to stir it up during that political stuff, I remember the post, and you've been a **** ever since.
jaime, that's what I came on this thread for too, information, and to celebrate the fact that everyone came through the storm relatively unscathed. I know I can be a jerk at times, and some people don't like me and that's fine. But I am not a lier, and I consider my veracity and honesty of importance to me. I do not consider it petty.

If you noticed Brad was calling us names yesterday....easy throwing poop from the balcony when you hide behind a screen name...Just fun,the only person I have a grudge against on this forum is Azbeachboy for blowing up a bowl of chili in my microwave and not cleaning it up last year

What is it you would like to know about me Jerry and will knowing more about me in anyway change the facts ? How about we start with I use to use the the screen name "gunner" until the format was changed and I was unable to log back in.
I have owned a condo in RP for 4-5 years and have been visiting since the early 70's, we use to stay at my uncles place in Cholla. I live in Prescott, Arizona and have been a resident of Arizona since 1982.
Fact is you have kept that a secret since you came back on trying to stir things up, and you even talk about your old name as if it was someone else who keeps bad company.
Welcome back Chappy!! Your good buddies ( tom watters, dry heat, gunner...) from days gone by miss you.
So what you been up to, been hangin with skenny and ferry ?
I'll bet a dime you've seen me around town Brad, everyone knows my Jeep, and what I look like. Be sure to wave next time you do..LOL I'd be glad to stop and chat.

There must be 1000 jeeps in the quad cities, whats makes yours so special ? Don't flatter yourself Kenny, I could give a damn about seeing you around Town and sure the hell haven't looked for you !!

You wouldn't know a joke or satire if it jumped up a bite you in the ###, Brad sweetie..LOL It seems to be some a kind of disease with the company you put youself with. If you actually thought I wanted to stop and talk with you after seeing you in action on here, you need a reality check.
Mark -
thanks for checking in on folks places - very thoughtful.
that's what Teri and I have found meeting folks on this forum -
very thoughtful, considerate folks. the past 2 Thanksgiving weekends were great, and we look forward to
continuing the tradition. We're newbies to PP - maybe 5 years or so, and Playa de Oro is where we park our 1991 motorhome
when we come down.
nobody we have met in the rv parks really cares if you have a 10,000 rig, or live in a million dollar mansion -
so long as your quality of character is genuine.
we're proud to call the folks we have met from this forum as real friends.
we have been accepted as we are, and have been treated with open arms as we get to know each other.
now we want a trailer or rv down there......
life is great :)
Gunner I'd watch hanging out at the Raven all those commies from Prescott college might convert you. They do make a great cup of coffee(also wht trash gay people?)The woodwork and front door are at the Raven very good work.
Question on your condo
What is the monthly maintenance fees?(for security, trash etc we pay 300 a quarter) Have your property taxes gone up (my tripled to 330 bucks a year) Did you have storm damage? (not to bad in Santo Tomas)

Jerry -
Sounds like you know parts of Prescott well, if you can get past the occasional ripe tree hugger from the college the Raven is actually a fun place to visit.
Our place is at Las Palmas (sandy beach), we have a two bedroom unit and the qurterly dues is $770. I have not noticed an increase in the taxes and not sure if we have damage, no phone call from the association so far and probably wont know till we visit next weekend.
Oh that Raven, now I know why Jerry hangs out there when he's in town.LOL We could have went over there for some coffee last week Jerry. The way Jay was wearing his collar, it could have been interesting. Never been myself, but I guess some of the kids at my school (Yavapai) do.
Here, here Joester! We also call PDO home for our "rather charming" 1989 motorhome and we don't give a rat's wazoo what kind of rigs are parked around us--as long as their owners are like us--people who love RP and everything about it. Which is what most people on this forum are about. So far, we've only met Mark and Barb and they are terrific people. So cool of you guys to check on everyone's places!! Hope everyone is getting their places cleaned up with no problems. Sooo, back to what this topic started as, how is the damage assessment/clean up going?
Hey "beachgirl" and "joester" thanks for your kind words... after driving around the last couple of days I have noticed that the city is hard at work cleaning up the mudslides on the mirador from Whale Hill mostly in front of Baja Cantina... out at the condos there are shovel crews shoveling sand drifts like a never ending plate of spaghetti... in some places the more they shovel the more the sand spills onto the roads... Calle 13 was blocked off for a while over by OXXO to the light at "Luis Encinas" (<--spelling?) and they had big pump trucks in there to remove the standing water, this was being done on the road on the north side of town that goes out to the condos and Cholla Bay (sorry for not remembering the names of the streets, you'd think after 14 years I would have them memorized).... there are still many places with standing water and hidden in these pond size puddles are potholes that can swallow a compact car so be careful driving around town...
But, by all means do come back to Rocky Point, be it to the RV Parks or the Condos the town hasn't changed because of a storm... I have been here since before huricane NORA and the storm that followed that was more destructive than this one and we just kept going on with life as usual here in Rocky Point... sea U later...
Hey guys, sky person here. I actually checked in because I received notice one of my coupes had some minor damage (water came in). Wanted to know how the rest of the town was doing. Anyways yes I am an investor and this place has always held a special place in my cold heart. You see as a young child I too stepped on the sand and got my baby gucci shoes dirty playing in sandy beach (late 80's). Glad to see a lot of you old forum people are still here and I see my good friend Happy (is that his name on this forum) still resides. I hope you guys sustained the storm and had no damage, I know a lot of the poorer areas did and that is a shame- hopefully we can all do something in our own way to help out.
