have had to relog into the site numerous times and on each computer since the new format. presume that is why it shows so many guests and so few memberss logged on.

Yeah...I've had the same problem...even had to reset my password, and clear all cookies from the computer. If I don't log off the forum, it dumps me, and then have to go thru the same process. This is weird!!!!

Tyler...you need to check this out, and put up some kind of instructions,,,,
rockyptjoe
Tyler/Stuart....the Forum is wacky after the update!

Tyler....when you did the update, I was logged on...and when the forum was back after the update, I was not able to log in. Tried to create a couple new profiles/names, and it let me, but when I tried to log in, it kept going to the login screen. Even did a password reset.....that didn't accomplish anything. It kept welcoming me, but I couldn't do anything on the forum, as if I wasn't logged in.

When I got home from Penasco this evening, I went in from another computer...reset my password, and everything was working fine on that computer. Cleared the cookies on the other computer, and was also able to log in.

I was bumped off the forum when I didn't have any activity...and the problems started all over again. Kept telling me that the password was wrong, and after 5 attempts, told me to wait 15 minutes. I did....and still couldn't log in after resetting th password. Cleared the cookies AGAIN, reset the password, and I am here AGAIN.

So...what's going on????

I'm running Windows XP Pro, and Internet Explorer 7.......

I'm wondering how may people are having the same problems?????

I haven't had any problem logging in, etc. But as for getting bumped off the forum when you don't have any activity, make sure you check the box under the login that says "Remember Me". I used to have that problem with the old forum-- it would bump me while I was in the middle of writing a comment and that annoyed the heck out of me until I discovered the "Remember Me" thing. That did the trick, maybe it will work the same with this incarnation?
BTW, Tyler/Stuart, I like the new look. (Hey, we need a "thumbs up" smiley for the posts themselves, not just the post titles)

Small issue???

I'll agree though....nice look!

As of last night, the "Remember me" wouldn't!!!!
rockyptjoe
OK...now the Forum "does" remember me....but when I come back, it takes me to the Password/Email edit screen.....I guess I gotta play with it some more....

Hey Tyler....sorry if I seem to be "*****in" about the problems, but it was very frustrating when I couldn't log in while down in Penasco, and couldn't even leave anybody messages on the problems I was having.....

How long did you wait between threads? More then 10 minutes?
sanjorge george
need to enter your new password on each computer that you use. the read latest unread has been moved to the right hand side of the header.

I only needed to log on the first time I visited after the upgrade... it's been running smooth for me...

Give it a try, post here, go to forum pick another thread and you will be logged off.

And now you threaten to Ban me, yeez.

You know you posted to me how to link a video yesterday, find it.

You need to acknowledge and not threaten with banning posters, what is up with you, new year getting to you already?

Works for me...

The youtube stuff disappeared as we restored the DB from yesterday morning.

Me too, that's why I don't understand what's up.

Tyler,
I can't log in from home but I can from work. Now how weird is that? I guess I won't die from withdrawal as long as I can get in at work. It also does not "remember me" at work.
Chari
Ladyjeeper
Where are the smilies?
tyler
Try clearing your Internet cache and cookies, restarting and try again.
Ladyjeeper
I have to have help with that. I'll call a friend.
rockyptjoe
I'm not having some of the issues that other's have reported...about being logged off when they switch Forums....
rockyptjoe
And my "Post count" increases....

In Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then Internet Options, and under the General Tab, click on Delete (about the middle of the popup)...and select Cookies and Temporary Internet Files
rockyptjoe
Just a general comment.....

Tyler, most of us appreciate that this Forum has been provided by you....

However, the upgrade has been frustrating for some of us....and I am pretty computer literate....it almost sounds like different people are having different problems. I frequently wonder about software "upgrades"....are they really worth the aggravation they cause with the minor "improvements" they provide????:stir:

Edit: Well....I guess the Pot Stirrer Smiley doesn't want to appear....
Kenny
My login was hit and miss most of the evening, and at one time or another I've had every one of the experiences described on this thread, including Wahoo's. I knew it wasn't just me because Roberto and Joe emailed describing their problems.
I could tell by the changes going on that Tyler was still working on it so I wasn't to concerned, and it seems to be OK now.

I would suggest this program to most everyone. Chari, it will do what Joe suggested, and a lot more. I highly recommend it......http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html

I still use the same old shortcut icon on my desktop and seem to be lucky enough to have no problem so far.

Note to Tyler: We appreciate your work on the site.

Thanks.

Joe -

Yes, we paid $200 for the upgrade, plus put a lot of time into upgrading it..

It solves a lot of problems we had with the forum... so yes, it's worth it.

Ditto on the bolded/underlined.....

The frustration was that there was no way to relay the problems we were having UNTIL we were able to log in....

well, seems like it is working good now, I tried to log for the past couple of days which I was capable of doing but nothing else, now seems it is OK, if the new update is able to stop spammers as the last edition did then all is good!! and for that we have to thank the software writers and Tyler for being in top of it!!:cheers::cheers::cheers:
Jim
I tried to log in earlier today and was unable. Worked fine this time.

Y'all can email me anytime you have a forum problem and can't get in. I have an email address specifically for the forum - RPFORUMS@gmail.com
I don't monitor it 24/7, but I do check it regularly. Might want to add it to your contact list.
rockyptjoe
Oh Grand Poobah...thank you!
sanjorge george
my computers remember the old password. if you reset it on one you have to reset it on the others also.
tyler
I'm going to change something in a second, but it will make everyone re-login again, so sorry ahead of time.
tyler
Change made, we'll see if that helps, or breaks even more things.
tyler
Is there anymore issues?
rockyptjoe
Seems to be stable the last day or so....if I log on, with "remember me"...it does...

We may have lost a couple of the smileys....I can't give you specifics right now, but there was at least one I was looking to use, and couldn't find it....no biggee, though.
tyler
smilies are easy to recover...
tyler
FYI -- If you need to contact us for whatever reason, there's a link at the bottom of the forum 'Contact Us'

Yay, I finally am able to log in from home! I don't have to burst over the weekend waiting to post up on Monday. I still can't find the smilies, tho.
tyler
What did you do in order to login?

Smilies... Click 'Go Advanced'
Ladyjeeper
I just tried again for the umpteenth time and wahla! You know, the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results. It works for me! I clicked remember me so I will know later if it does. I even got the smilies to work. Thanks Tyler, I really am 5 when it comes to computers. I need my hand held every time you change something. I am soooo happy........I'm back on!!!!
tyler
I'm never changing another thing!
Ladyjeeper
:lol:You could warn an old lady before you do it.....

Thanks Tyler!

Ladyjeeper
Well, so far it is keeping me logged in. Happy, happy, joy, joy! And Tyler, I bake a mean apple pie with a cinnamon crunch crust! I just may have to bring you one sometime.......
