I have friends in line hoping to cross the border but after two hours they still cannot see the crossing. If Mexico truly needs the tourist dollars they certainly are not acting like it.

Look at the google map of that area, fugly. Backed up past the ranger station in the Organ Pipe Park

Just went on Google maps traffic b4 I read this post and said to myself OMG! If they have red light still going for every vehicle like they did this morning at 6:30AM I think that is totally ridiculous.

Maybe good for me though, headed to Bryan's for prime rib, maybe not too crowded. :ohyeah:

Wow, I knew holiday weekends were bad coming in, especially in the afternoon but that sounds God-awful. I can't even imagine how enraged I'd be imagining myself with a cold one on the beach, but instead packed into a hot car staring at cactus...

For our Memorial Day vacations to RP, if we can't leave Phx before 7am on Friday we will try again Sat by 7am, even then there's still a 45-60 minute wait.

I've done the hit the border on Fri at 4-6 pm ONCE and swore to never do it again because of the 3 hour wait.

Same rule applies for going back home, leave RP by 7-8am on Mon or leave Tues by 8am.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
A six-month-old child is dead and three other people hurt after a four-car crash near the Lukeville Port of Entry.
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on State Route 85 heading south near Lukeville late Friday night.
Officials said traffic was stopped near the port when one car rear-ended another.
This caused the car to go into two other vehicles as well, according to DPS.
The child was in the car that was originally rear-ended.
Investigators have not shared the condition of the three other people hurt.
The road was back open just after 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

It's going to be ugly on Monday coming home. Good luck and stay patient.

At 9am Monday the wait is already 60 minutes, the CBP site is showing 5 lanes open. Glad I'm not going down until Wednesday.

Back to the monument, could be a lot more than that depending how fast CBP is moving them through. Took me 4 hours a few years back from that spot.
Roberto
Took me five minutos to drive to the OXXO this morning, damed holiday traffic.

Have a buddy in Chandler who has a Sasabe story. Says he was driving with his Dad back from RP through Mexico, and in Altar they were looking at the map and essentially said "F@#k it" and decided to drive up to Sasabe instead of Santa Ana/ Nogales. Says as they got near the border they were approached and followed by pickup trucks with armed guys in the truck bed- they were not in any way self-identified as any type of law enforcement. They had no idea who the hell they were and just kept going to the border. Luckily the crossed without incident but were asked by the Customs agents what on earth they were doing there and basically advised to never do it again. Sounded like the wild west out there...

Scary...hope they were wearing Hawaiian shirts, windows down with rock music blasting.

Were the border waits less than usual for this Memorial Day coming back from Mexico? I looked a few times and it was under 2 hours according to the BP website.
