We're coming back together USA today, police speed traps at both ends of town, it cost my wife 1000 pesos at the court building, she was going 65kph at the little hill coming into Sonoyta so it was justified, there were 10 other cars there paying fines. Lots of cars headed south, I mean hundreds on Sat at 1pm,
I've seen them clocking cars with the radar gun just as you crest the hill coming into town. By the time you see them it's too late. The 40 kph sign is just before the hill. Perfect set-up for their fundraiser. I try to be at 20 mph before the top of the hill and maintain that through town. Everybody behind me is pissed but oh well
I've learned that you have to be doing the posted speed limit when you pass the signs, in Sonoyta, Organ Pipe, Why, Ajo and Gila Bend.
That little hill trap going north into Sonoyta has claimed most people I know who go to RP.
By the time my wife got out of the office to pay her fine (5 minutes) another 5 cars pulled up to go pay their fines, all were USA plated.
Nice little income booster for Sonoyta, but the $55 she paid is better than the $220+ fines in the states and then there is traffic school.

I have an Escort radar,laser detector. It works in the USA and Mexico. You are are correct. 20 miles per hour in Sonoyta is smart.
